Judul Skripsi: The Effects of Posters to Improve Students' Ability to Write Descriptive Text Using Direct Instruction Model at the Second Grade of High School. Pd., M.Pd as the second consultant who provided valuable time and guidance to complete this thesis. Egi Setiawan and Nurfaizah Haris for their willingness to guide researchers to complete this thesis well.

The effects of a poster in improving students' ability to write descriptive text using the direct instruction model in the second grade of middle school. This study examined the effects of posters on students writing descriptive text using the Direct Instruction Model in the second grade of SMPN 1 Makassar for the 2020/2021 academic year, focusing on the use of topic or idol posters . This means that there was a significant difference between using posters via the Direct Instruction Model when writing descriptive text that focused on using a topic or idol poster.

Thus, it can be concluded that the poster can improve students' ability in writing descriptive text using the direct instruction model in the second grade of high school.

The poster is one of the media that is undertaken by the researcher to modify a good classroom atmosphere and make the written learning process more interesting. Based on research from practicum programs 1 to 3 and teacher professional development (p2k) programs from the campus that are directly involved with students and also related to the school curriculum, the researcher has found many problems of students in the classroom for the hardest part of writing. is how to start or choose a topic they want to write, explore information and how they are able to write something clearly and accurately, especially in English learning. The researcher has seen that the students become more interested and active in learning when they are given lots of pictures or when the researchers discuss things they like.

Here, the researcher uses the idol poster as a medium in learning to write descriptive text using a direct instruction model which is expected to make this study successful so that students can solve the problems of their writing skills. Based on the above phenomenon, the researcher concludes that the problem statement of this study is: how does the effect of poster improve students' ability to write descriptive text in the second grade of SMPN 1 Makassar. The researcher focused on using topic/idol posters as a medium in writing descriptive text.

Therefore, to measure the characteristic of a good descriptive text, the researcher used the characteristic of Apsari AAN (in Zahara, S.

Some Pertinent Ideas

Freewriting is a brainstorming activity in which writing about the topics is free. The main purpose of the step is to look at a specific focus without thinking about appropriateness, grammar, spelling, logic or organization. Descriptive text is one of the factual genres and one of the texts taught in tenth grade class. We have to describe people who appear reasonably areas of the physical characteristic (hair, eyes), emotional (hot, nervous), moral characteristics (greedy, honest, dignified, trust), and intellectual (smartness, perception).

When we start describing a place, it is important to give a clear picture of the size. In order to accurately describe the object, it was necessary to provide the physical characteristics of the object such as color, shape, form, etc. One of the mistakes in writing is the lack of variations of words or vocabulary used.

The teacher then gives some example sentences that describe one of the characters so that the students can find the characters in question. Then, the teacher gave a poster of the idol character and the students are invited to interact about the character's identity or characteristics. These groups are organized based on the level of program appropriate for the students, rather than the grade level the students are in. b) The structure of the program is designed to ensure mastery of the content. This way, students can see all phases of the lesson and the connections between the lessons. This activity aims to capture students' attention, draw students' attention to the topic and remind them of the learning outcomes they have, which are relevant to the topic.

This goal can be achieved by repeating the subjects of the previous lesson, or by asking students questions about the subjects of the previous lesson.

The dependent variable in this research was students' writing ability to write descriptive text. To measure the result of the test, the researcher used six characteristics of descriptive text according to Apsari AAN (in Zahara, S, 2014: 29). The last meeting was Post-test to find the effects Posters in the students' written descriptive text.

Then, the t-test formula was used to find the effect of using posters on students' descriptive text writing. After scoring the test result using the descriptive text assessment rubric of students' writing, which was mentioned in Table 3.2, the data were classified as follows. The results of the effect of posters on students' descriptive writing skills using the direct instruction model were shown.

The results of the data findings found that the effect of posters on students' writing skills through the Direct Teaching Model can improve students' performance in writing descriptive text in VIII 3 SMPN 1 MAKASSAR. Based on the result, it was concluded that the effect of Poster using Direct Teaching Model could make a better contribution in the teaching and learning of writing descriptive text. There was therefore a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results when writing descriptive text.

Therefore, he concluded that the poster effect using the direct teaching model could contribute better to the teaching and learning of descriptive text writing. FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION

Discussion

Indah (2018) said that posters in descriptive text can help students understand the material being taught more easily because they can relate the media to real life, etc. According to Amy Fredrickson (2018), all children can improve academically and in terms of self-esteem by using the direct instruction model in the learning process. Apsari AAN (in Zahara, S.) described six characteristics of good expository writing and described them in the second chapter as indicators for researchers to assess a student's ability to write expository writing.

It included the use of figurative words, the use of images should be clear, using the right variety of words, using different information about the object to be described, therefore the descriptive text was clear, used a clear simple present tense and was used appropriately. N (in Zahara. S as an indicator for assessing students' ability to write a good descriptive text, greatly helped the researcher to obtain a score based on the students' test results. This means that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted because there was a significant difference in the mean score from the tests given by researchers using the Posters Trough Direct Instruction Model in the classroom.

From the above discussion, the researcher concluded that the effect of poster on improving students' writing ability through direct instruction model was successful in VIII. Based on the discussion presented in the previous chapter, it can be concluded that the effect of posters on the writing skills of students in the second grade of SMPN 1 MAKASSAR through the Direct Instruction Model received an improvement in the academic year 2020/2021. Researchers recommend English teachers to find out students' interest in learning English and know how to monitor students, because this was very important to support students' knowledge in preparing materials or understanding materials, especially in terms of writing skills, as students' common problems in learning English are learning English.

The use of poster comments to increase students' ability to write descriptive text in second grade in Smkn 8 Bulukumba (Doctoral dissertation, Uin Alauddin Makassar). This means that descriptive text is text that describes characteristics of people, places or things.

Suggestion

He has a beautiful voice, especially when he sings 'Baby' with a beautiful voice that made me marvel at him. I like him because he has a good voice, handsome, beautiful smile and is a kind person.
