content; The term "content" relates to how well students establish the thesis statement and support it with some related ideas. In 2013, the Indonesian English language curriculum made it mandatory for students to be able to write different types of texts and one of them is descriptive text (Departemen Pendidikan Nasional, 2013). The media helped the students in this research because the media supported the material in order to help the students in learning or understanding the lesson.

Mondly Application will be used in the classroom so that the students can also use Mondly Application. Finally to findings that classify the score of the students and get complete data from all the research instruments including pre-test, treatment and post-test to know whether or not Mondly Application has an impact on improving students' writing skills.

Hypothesis

The test was designed to find out the students' writing skills after the students were treated. According to the tables, the writing skill of the students was good after using the instrument with Mondly app. -a test was conducted to find out the score of the students' writing skills before the treatment was taught in the Mondly app.

Based on the students' score and classification in pre-test and post-test. there were many significant differences. The result of the writing test how the students' score after using Mondly Application was higher than before.

METHOD OF THE RESEARCH

Research Design

Before the treatment, students took a pre-test (writing test) to determine their prior knowledge (O1), then taught writing using the Mondly app (X), and finally students took a post-test to check students' writing improvement (O2). . A comparison between the pre-test and post-test scores will determine the success of the treatment. At the hearing, a writer using the Mondly app as a digital medium will teach writing skills.

According to Sugiyon, independent variables are variables that affect or cause changes or the emergence of the dependent variable (dependent)". Independent variables are those that the researcher chooses to study to assess their possible effect(s) on one or more other variables. For an independent variable is assumed to influence (at least partially cause) or somehow influence at least one other variable.

According to Sugiyono, it defines the dependent variable, namely: "the variables that are affected or are the result, due to the independent variables". The variable that the independent variable is supposed to affect is called the dependent variable. In ordinary terms, the dependent variable depends on what the independent variable does, how it affects it. To prevent the interpretation of biases especially related to the terms used in this study, the operational definitions of the included variables are formulated as follows.

Using Mondly Application in learning writing means Mondly Application is used to improve students writing skills in English. The student's written performance of English means that the student has mastered writing in English after treatment, which is indicated by a better score in the post-test than in the pre-test.

Instrument of the Research

In this research related to the title, we would focus on improving students' writing skills. The findings presented in this work consist of data obtained from a test to see students' achievement in written English after being treated with the Mondly app. The tests were administered twice, namely before the test and after the test, the writer gave the students a written test before and after the hearing.

The total score of students in the post-test is 2,043 and the number of students is 26 students. It means that the students' writing skills score differed when increasing the score from the pre-test to the post-test. Based on the data of the students' average score, the post-test was higher than the pre-test, meaning that there was an improvement in the students' writing skills.

The third step, the students got a post-test to know the writing skills score of the students after being taught using Mondly Application. The test was designed to know the writing skills of the students before the students received the treatment, the students did not seem to understand the test and were active in asking questions of the writer. During the post-test, the students received the same explanation about the test as during the pre-test.

The test aimed to know the students' vocabulary, after the students received the treatment, the students quieter and faster did the test. It showed that there was different writing skill score of second grade students in UPT SMPN 1 kepulauan Selayar. Most of the students have low writing skills before Mondly Application was used, students can improve their writing skills and active while doing the activities.

Procedure of Collecting Data

To know whether the students' writing ability of procedural text is increasing or not, use the steps taken by the writer to analyze the results of students. Source: Students' pre-test Based on the data in table 4.1. the pre-test showed that of 26 students there were no students categorized as excellent to very good. Based on the description above, it is clear that there is an improvement of students' grammar of English through the students' post-test through the treatment of those students who used the Mondly Application.

Students do not seem to understand the test and active in asking questions to the author. Instrument learners download Mondly Application and author explains how to use Mondly Application via smartphone video call. It can be seen, it was concluded that the students achieved good writing skills after using Mondly Application.

Practically, the theory was accepted and stimulated the students to improve student writing skills in the second class of students of UPT SMPN 1 Kepulauan Selayar in the academic year 2020/2021. Teachers can use Mondly Application as an extra subject in their home so that the students can learn in a fun way and not feel bored or used in the classroom to create a new atmosphere in teaching to avoid the students. Because teaching English by Mondly Application is more fun and effective. The writer found that the difficult method or boring technique can make students lazy to learn new things.

FINDINGS AND DICUSSIONS

Findings

After analyzing the data obtained from the pre-tests and post-tests, below is the result of the data analysis. The total score for content is 447, the total score for vocabulary is 342, the total score for use of language is 300 and the total score for mechanics is 247. The total score of students on the pre-exam is 1.336, and the total number of students is 26 students.

Source: Students' post-test From the classification, the scores and rate percentage for the post-test illustrated in the table above, that out of 26 students the last category was 0 students (0%), 4 students (20%) with fair category and the 18 students (60%) with good category and very good category was reached with 4. For the pre-test the writer gave explanation to all students about the test.

Instrument the author will explain how to use Mondly application, author choice three different questions and student will do assignments through Mondly via smartphone in their home. For the post-test, the author will have given the same explanation about the test, the same as the pre-test.

Discussions

From the finding this research was passed, it was known from the mean score in pre-test was 334 improved to post-test with 510.75. With reference to the description above, it was concluded that in this research, Mondly Application as a digital media was effective in teaching writing. Some of the obstacles were found researcher because this research was carried out during pandemic the corona virus, when teaching and learning activities moved at home.

Teaching English language in class using smartphone for communication and gave. information, so sad because we can't interact directly and researcher just deal with students on smartphone. Based on the result of data analysis and the discussion, using Mondly Application as a digital media is a fun way to learn writing to stimulate students to improve writing skills. The teachers can try to use Mondly Application or other digital media to improve writing skills in their English class, especially for writing skills.

Saran agar pengajaran bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan aplikasi Mondly dapat diterapkan di sekolah dan siswa lain. Siswa mampu menggunakan struktur teks dan unsur kebahasaan yang berkaitan dengan tindakan/peristiwa yang sedang dilakukan sekarang atau yang sedang terjadi. Mahir dalam memahami, menunjukkan dan mendorong teks lisan dan tulisan untuk menunjukkan dan mendorong tindakan/peristiwa yang dilakukan/terjadi di masa lalu.

Menyusun, menceritakan, menjelaskan dengan struktur teks yang runtut dengan unsur kebahasaan yang benar sesuai konteks, dalam beberapa hal. Siswa diminta untuk mempersiapkan janji perawatan berikutnya, memberi tahu mereka tentang mengunduh dan menggunakan aplikasi Mondly. Dari penjelasan di atas, siswa diberikan waktu untuk menggunakan aplikasi Mondly dan dipersilakan untuk bertanya jika kurang paham.

Membuat teks kalimat sederhana tentang peristiwa/kejadian yang dialami siswa di masa lampau dalam bentuk scrapbook. Sapa dan sapa siswa dengan ramah saat video call smartphone (nilai-nilai yang ditanamkan: santun, peduli). Memberi motivasi kepada siswa yang ketinggalan dan belum bisa mengikuti materi yang dipelajari.
