So the researcher does an experimental research titled: "Using Crossword Puzzle to Enhance Students' Vocabulary (An Experimental Study at the Second Year Students of SMP Negeri 20 Makassar)". Can the use of crossword puzzles improve students' vocabulary in second year students at SMP Negeri 20 Makassar. How is the significant improvement of students' vocabulary after using crossword puzzles in second year students at SMP Negeri 20 Makassar.
To describe the significant improvement of students after using the crossword puzzle in the second year students of SMP Negeri 20 Makassar. After that, the researcher will give the crossword and ask the students to work with their partner. Yunita (2013) conducted a research entitled “Implementing the use of crossword game to increase the vocabulary of fourth graders.
In fact, by using crosswords as a game, students are engaged as if they are doing real practice. Null Hypothesis (H0): The use of crossword puzzles cannot improve students' vocabulary at SMP Negeri 20 Makassar.
RESEARCH METHODRESEARCH METHOD

In learning vocabulary, there were several parts to be known such as the spelling, the meaning, the derivation of the words and the usage of the word. The population of the research was the second grade students at SMP Negeri 20 Makassar, registered in the academic year 2015/2016. Purposive sampling, also known as judgmental, selective or subjective sampling, is a type of non-probability sampling technique.
Non-probability sampling focuses on sampling techniques where the units examined are based on the judgment of the researcher.
Research Instrument
The number of tests amounted to 50 questions to examine the students' vocabulary during the pre-test; the post-test contains the same questions.

Identify significant differences between pretest and posttest by calculating test scores. The findings obtained from the vocabulary of second year students of SMP Negeri 20 Makassar are presented as follows. The students' score level percentage is obtained from the vocabulary test. Pre- and post-test score of students for the experimental group. Students' pre-test and post-test scores for the experimental group shown in the table below.
Based on the students' scores in the pretest, two out of 27 students got 80, three students got 75, four students got 70, two students got 65, eight students got 60, one student got 55. score, four students got 50, one student got 44, one student got 40, one student got 38. While from the students' post-test there was one student who got 96 points out of the 27 students. The data in the table above shows the students' scores in analyzing and evaluating questions in the pre-test and post-test.
Based on the table above, there are significant developments in the scores of the students before and after the treatment and there was a percentage improvement. It can be compared that there is a significant difference in results between the pre-test data and the post-test data. In this case, the student's score on the post-test is greater than the student's score on the pre-test.
The calculation of t-test found out whether the difference between the mean scores of the pre-test and that of the post-test was significant, the researcher used the formula at the previous chapter. This shows that the mean score difference between pre-test and post-test is statistically significant. Therefore, based on the above result where the value of t-test is greater than the value of t-table, the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, it means that the hypothesis " There is " a difference in meaning from the students'.
From the above analysis, the researcher concluded that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and the post-test in the use of Crossword to improve students' vocabulary.
DISCUSSION
At the beginning of the lesson, the researcher gave the students some tasks with the help of a crossword puzzle and other types of vocabulary tests using clues. The students enjoyed the tasks because the game was fun and they could work in a group. The students said that learning English vocabulary with the help of a crossword is interesting, a crossword is easier and more effective than just memorizing words.
While teaching, the teachers should choose the right technique so that the students will enjoy the lesson. Based on the results of tests, the process of learning English using crossword puzzles as a vocabulary teaching technique in SMP Negeri 20 Makassar can help the students expand the vocabulary of the students so that they can improve their vocabulary performance. In addition, the students who had been taught how to use crossword puzzles felt more fun and did not feel bored in class during the learning process.
During the learning process, the students in the experiment class were fun and fun. The result of this research showed that the vocabulary of the students of SMP Negeri 20 Makassar improved. In the experimental class, the students' scores improved based on the research result, in the pre-test, 7 students scored a very bad score and 9 students scored a bad score (Table 1), and after the researcher gave the treatment, there were no students more received a very bad score and a bad score (Table 1).
Since she found that the English vocabulary of the students can improve by using the crossword puzzle. So, both techniques are very good to be applied to improve the students' vocabulary. Before treatment is given, the students' performance in vocabulary is categorized as poor, which is evidenced by the percentage of the score of pre-test in students' vocabulary.
These findings establish that there is a significant difference in the vocabulary improvement of the students before and after teaching through the crossword technique could significantly improve the students' vocabulary.

Suggestion
Based on the result of this research and the discussion in the previous chapter, this chapter presents the conclusion and suggestion. Teaching using this strategy makes students practice their pronunciation and can also expand their vocabulary. If students are not comfortable and upset with the way their teacher's material is, they should ask their teacher to change or give them different materials that are more acceptable and easier for students who understand the lesson.
The result of this research can also be used as an additional reference or further research with different discussions for the next researchers. Dalam kerja kelompok terbimbing, siswa menganalisis fungsi sosial, makna dan fungsi ungkapan mencari perhatian serta responnya, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan, serta format penulisan. Siswa mendapatkan umpan balik dari guru dan teman tentang segala hal yang disampaikannya dalam kerja kelompok.
