Heralding a broad strategic partnership, trust solutions provider ValiCert has developed an optimized version of its Validation Authority™ for use with Baltimore Technologies UniCERT™, a leading public key infrastructure (PKI) system. The result promises to be a faster and more simple digital certificate validation as an integral part of a Baltimore PKI.
Baltimore UniCERT issues and manages digital identities and certificates. For enterprises engaging in serious e-Business, UniCERT offers ironclad confidentiality, authentication, integrity, and non-repudiation services. Integration of the ValiCert Validation Authority and UniCERT PKI will eliminate interoperability concerns and enhance system performance.

Under the terms of the new partnership, Baltimore will ship a customized and optimized version of the ValiCert Validation Authority to Baltimore’s customers, allowing end users to validate digital credentials regardless of the issuing certificate authority. The ValiCert Validation Authority provides all the tools necessary to host a validation solution, including:
■ ValiCert Enterprise VA: Robust fourth-generation VA server.
■ ValiCert VA Publisher: Obtains revocation data from a certificate authority, or a directory server supporting LDAP, and transports it to the ValiCert VA.
■ ValiCert Validator Suite: Quickly and easily incorporates validation functionality into existing applications, such as Web Servers, Email, and Web Browsers.
■ ValiCert Service: Managed digital credential validation service outsourced to ValiCert Trust Services or a ValiCert affiliate.
Baltimore's UniCERT customers will now have all the benefits of ValiCert’s validation technologies and services. And, this initiative merely represents the beginning of a broad strategic partnership.
