Dear Editors
Attached is the paper I have co-authored with Lusia Paramita, Nur Azreen Binti Mohamad Hamid, Adit Widodo Santoso, and Kris Herawan Timotius to be considered for publication in The Indonesian Biomedical Journal. The title of the paper is In Vitro Antidiabetic and Antioxidant Activities of Aqueous Extract from the Leave and Fruit of Psidium guajava L.
We chose this topic because of the recent interest in nutraceutical food as an approach in controlling glycaemic condition in type 2 diabetes mellitus and preventing diabetic complications (Derosa et al., 2014 and Pandey & Kumar, 2011). Psidium guajava L (guava) is a very common fruit in Indonesia and the leave and fruit have been traditionally used to treat a number of diseases.
Therefore it has the potential to be developed as a nutraceutical food, and scientific evaluations are required to support its functional properties.
In our paper, we investigated not only the antidiabetic potency of the aqueous extracts, but also the antioxidant properties of both leave and fruit extracts from guava, due to the various complications of T2DM associated with oxidative stress.
Please confirm that you have received this submission.
Sincerely
Adelina Simamora
