One of the aims of the course is to encourage policy makers to build protection strategies for victims in accordance with the international legal frameworks and policy guidelines. Twenty-six participants were selected for the course, of which 19 participants received the certificates after completing the course.
Two Pakistani participants, although successfully completing the distance education segment of the course, were unable to attend the workshop. This year, for the first time, we had participants from Sikkim, one of the eastern Himalayan states of India, as well as from Brazil. Experts from various universities and institutions in South Asia, Southeast Asia and outside South Asia were invited to join the eighth winter course on forced migration as faculty members.

The additional reading material was uploaded on the secured segment of the website intended for the students and faculty. The participants had to complete three tasks during the distance learning part. Participants had to submit their first draft of the term paper during the distance learning segment.
The objective of this module is to examine the impacts of the resource crisis, climate change and subsequent forced migration on societal development. The resource crisis, climate change and forced migration are among the main concerns of contemporary development discourse. Much of the research depends on ingenuity, especially if the inquiry is sensitive in the eyes of the people being asked.
Write three or four paragraphs about the difference/similarity in how the issue is presented. Preparation of a 4-5 day training program, which will cover the issues of forced migration, both from the perspective of refugees and internally displaced persons. After the meeting with the officials, leaders and the refugees, the participants took part in a community lunch with the prisoners of the Coopers camp. In order to keep the expertise of the participants under consideration, CRG wanted to offer the participants an opportunity to share their work experiences. Displacement due to disasters is now one of the worst types affecting different population groups.

On the evening of December 15, 2010, the Evaluation Session of the Eighth Annual Winter Course on Forced Migration took place. Her Excellency Terhi Hakala distributed certificates to the course participants who successfully completed it. He then looked at different displacement scenarios as a result of the effects of climate change.

All of these contributed to the overall reading stock for the eighth winter course on forced migration. We are currently reviewing papers from participants in the Sixth Annual Winter Course on Forced Migration and the Seventh Annual Winter Course on Forced Migration, and some of the papers will be published in Refugee Watch. It presents news and views, critiques and analyzes of the policies of the states and international humanitarian institutions regarding forced migration and forced population flows across borders in this region.
Again this year, we plan to redraw the editorial board for RWO to include the participants of the seventh winter course on forced migration. This year, the research themes that have been explored with particular emphasis are Internally Displaced Persons in Post Conflict Sri Lanka, Forced Migration in Nepal and Stateless Persons in South Asia. Roopshree Joshi has tried to depict the situation of the Tibetans who live in the camps in Nepal.
Anita Ghimire, on the other hand, highlighted the impact of forced migration on women in her study Rethinking "Women" in Forced Displacement. CRG in collaboration with Panos South Asia organized a workshop on Media and Forced Migration in Gangtok from 21-23 January 2011. This year, the participants of the eighth winter course took advantage of the digitized information center for the first time. Details and course reading materials over the years are available in the CRG website archive, also with links. Similarly we have uploaded stateless papers of stateless Chakmas in Arunachal Pradesh.
Audio files of lectures and interviews relating to our winter course topics on forced migration and issues such as statelessness have been edited by professional editors. CRG wants to initiate more frequent exchanges of scholars from other South Asian countries to deal with the subject of forced migration and displacement. The main objective is to develop first-hand knowledge and experience of forced migration and displacement in neighboring South Asian countries.
