What is gender equality? Gender equality is equal rights between men and women. In legal relations, it is to study and eliminate all social barriers that prevent the emergence of a person as a person, as well as to create equal social opportunities for realizing the personality of men and women in all areas of life.

What reforms are being carried out on gender equality in Uzbekistan?

Today, the issue of gender equality is one of the topical issues not only in our republic, but also in the international arena. In the last two years, important steps have been taken to ensure gender equality in our country. These ongoing reforms are the reason for restoring and ensuring the rights of women and girls in our country, paying attention to them and increasing the prestige of Uzbekistan in the international arena. The legal basis for supporting women and girls was created, 30 regulatory documents - 2 laws, 28 decrees and decisions were adopted. In particular, laws "On guarantees of equal rights and opportunities for women and men" and "On protection of women from oppression and violence" were adopted.

The Commission on Gender Equality of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Women and Girls and Gender Equality Committee in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis have been launched.

The official website www.gender.stat.uz in the field of gender policy monitoring and effectiveness evaluation was launched in a completely updated interpretation.

On October 31, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Gender Equality Committee of the Institute of Legislative Problems and Parliamentary Research, In cooperation with the Family and Women's Committee and the "Legal Reforms" program of the US Development Agency in Uzbekistan, a roundtable discussion was held on the presentation of a practical manual on gender legal expertise. According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated August 23, 2022, the World Bank's "Women, Business and Law" index was included in the list of international rankings and indices of priority for the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Family and State women's committee was established. Currently, our country ranks 120th in the World Bank's "Women, Business and Law" index, having scored 70.6 points out of 100.

From now on, not only women's committees, but also ministries and authorities will deal with issues of gender equality.

Also, one of the most important decisions is the adoption of the strategy to achieve gender equality by 2030. The main directions of this gender equality strategy are:

1. Increasing the social activity of women and girls;

2. Preparing and recommending women for leadership positions;

983 3. To ensure the employment of women, to continue the work of creating decent jobs for them;

4. We will develop women's entrepreneurship, strictly demand their rights to own financial resources;

5. The most important thing is to completely eliminate some cases of violence against women;

6. Supporting women with limited opportunities; Another important aspect of this strategy is that from now on, not only women's committees, but also all ministries and hokimitas will deal with these matters.

In addition, the Women's Committee established Women's Entrepreneurship Centers, where women were trained in entrepreneurship, vocational training and preferential loans.

Now or never!

Today in our country, you should be able to benefit from the attention paid to women and girls, the conditions created to show them that they have equal rights with men, and at the same time, you should know your rights. "A woman is not an object, beating and killing a woman is barbaric!" There is no excuse for this. Those who assault their wives must be held accountable by the law." Dear women and sisters, know your worth and value. Act now for your future.

Remember, it's now or never. when!
