Jhum Rice Land preparation

to Sowing

 As the moisture level in soil has increased due to continuous rain, therefore farmers are advised to continue sowing of Jhum rice var. like Bhalum 1, 2, 3;

IRAT 109, IR 50, etc. Before sowing seeds should be treated with Bavistin 50 WP@ 2g/l or Mancozeb 2.5 g/l with water for 24hrs to protect from fungal attack. Apply small quantity of urea @ 30kg/ha at the time of sowing.

Maize Emergence to

Knee high stage

 Prepare channels for draining of excess water in the field as medium to heavy rain is expected.

Potato Tuber initiation

(For high altitude Region)

 Spray chlorpyriphos 20 EC @ 1ml/litre for control of cut worms in potato.

 Cover the soil with locally available biomass like straw, grasses, etc for in situ moisture conservation.

Okra Sowing to

emergence

 Make channels for draining of excess water in the field as medium to heavy rain is expected.

Brinjal Transplanting to plant establishment stage

 Continue transplanting of 30-35 days old brinjal seedlings at a spacing of 60 x 60 cm (varieties) & 90 x 60 cm (hybrids). Apply 108 kg urea, 312 kg SSP & 50 kg MOP per ha at the time of transplanting.

Tomato Transplanting to plant establishment stage

 Continue transplanting of tomato seedlings of age 20-25 days old in small flat beds at a spacing of 6045 cm.

Apply 86 kg/ha urea, 375 kg SSP & 83 kg MOP as basal dose either just before transplanting or 5-10 days after transplanting.

Bottle Gourd Sowing to

emergence

 Make channels for draining of excess water in the field as medium to heavy rain is expected.

 Continue sowing of bottle gourd varieties like Pusa Summer, Prolific Long, Prolific Round, Pusa Meghdoot, Pusa Hybrid 2, etc in pit of size 60cm x 60cm x 60cm.

Ash Gourd Sowing to

emergence

 Prepare channels for draining of excess water in the field as medium to heavy rain is expected.

 Continue sowing of Ash gourd.

Suggestion: Contact nearby State Agril. Staff or KVK staff for necessary help and suggestion.

Ginger/turmeric Land preparation to planting

 Start planting of HYV’s of ginger/turmeric like Turmeric: Lakadong, RCT-1; Ginger: Nadia, Poona, Riodegenerio, etc.

 Select high loamy land for cultivation. Farmers are advised to make raised bed of size 1m width, 15cm height and of convenient length and channels for draining excess rain water.

 Seed rate- Turmeric: 2000-2500kg/ha.

Ginger: 1400-1600 Kg/ha

 Before sowing treat the seed rhizomes with Indofil M - 45 or Captaf @ 0.3% & plant at a spacing of 25cm x 25- 30cm and turmeric at 25cm X 40-45cm.

Water Harvesting  Take measures to conserve rain water by used of

mulching materials, digging of ponds, Jalkund, etc.

Animal Sciences

Poultry All stages  As there was rain in the previous days and also there is chance of continuation in the next days, therefore farmers are advised to keep the poultry house dry and avoid dampness. Present weather is congenial for development of diseases like Coccidiosis, so as a preventive measure gives Amprolium @ 25-65 mg/kg feed once a day.

Piggery All stages  Pig shed/stay should keep dry and avoid dampness

during rainy days. Repair the roof of pig stay to protect from rain as medium to heavy rain is expected. Provide additional feed ingredients like broken rice, wheat bran, broken maize along with kitchen waste, mineral mixture (20g/day).

Cattle & Buffaloes All stage  Kept the animal indoor and avoid grazing in rain. Keep the animal shed dry & clean and avoid dampness.

Provide balanced feed and clean water.

 Due to prevailing weather condition there is chance of growth of molds (especially Aspergillus sps.) and produced alfatoxins, therefore farmers are advised to keep the animals feeds in a dry & clean place & avoid direct contact with soil/ground.

 Continue sowing of capsularies var. like JRE-21, JRC- 321, JRC 7447 & Olitorious var. like JRO 632, JRO- 514, JRO-7835 either by broadcasting or in line maintaining a seed rate of 5-7 kg for Olitorius & 8-10 kg for Capsularis are required for 1 ha. Apply urea @ 27kg/ha; SSP 156 kg/ha; MOP 50 kg/ha basally at the time of sowing.
