The institute continued its commitment to provide advanced IT facilities to the IIMK user community. Interior fit-out and fit-out of the MDP complex was commenced during the year. The convocation of the fourteenth batch of Post Graduate Program was held on March 17, 2012.
Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode announced the successful completion of the summer placement process for the fifteenth batch of 345 students. At the end of the day, I am very confident in the decisions that have been made, even though we hired MBAs from campus for the first time. Alumni are involved in the admission/selection process of the institute, bringing an industry perspective into the student selection process.

The first draft of the official website of IIMK was released in Hindi and the same is under processing.
The Library and Information Center (LIC) at IIMK (http://intranet.iimk.ac.in/libintra) provides a seamless learning space to its stakeholders. The LIC is envisaged as IIMK's knowledge center and it serves as the nerve center of scientific as well as corporate information. The LIC thus fulfills the role as the main learning resource center of the Institute.
LIC aims to provide information backup and state-of-the-art support for its teaching and research processes through world-class resources and value-added information services in all areas of management and related disciplines. E-Learning Platform developed by Center for Development of Digital Libraries (CDDL) for WHO India Office (http://www.medinfoguide.net), Coir Board Information Portal (http://coirboard. nic. in), the Greenstone Support Network for South Asia (http://greenstonesupport.iimk.ac.in) deserves special mention. The ambitious project of IIMK Digital Library (http://iimk.ac.in/gsdl/cgi-bin/library), sponsored by Ministry of HRD.
Another important milestone was the commissioning of the Smart-Card-based access control system and the Smart-Gate-based E-Security system. The latest in the series of services is the “Leadership Compass”. http://leadership.iimk.ac.in) aimed at the management fraternity. To promote cross-border research and bilateral industrial-economic relations, the scientific publications of the Institute's faculty and researchers are captured and hosted in the open access Institutional Repository DSpace@IIMK (http://dspace.iimk.ac.in).

In order to meet the expected additional power needs of the institute, measures were simultaneously taken to expand the existing power supply and distribution system on campus. Approval from the Supreme Council has been received for the creation of a further 19 faculty positions. G Venkat Raman, Visiting Assistant Professor, participated in “60 Years of Sino-Indian Interactions: Comprehending Multifarious Dimensions of Inter-relationship”, organized by Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur, in December in Thrissur, India where he presented a paper titled “ Cultural Dimensions of the Chinese Business Negotiations”.
Krishna K Ladha, Professor, attended the Annual Meeting of the Midwest Political Science Association from March 31 to April 3, 2011 in Chicago, IL, USA, where he presented a paper entitled “Aristotle's Politics on Corporate Governance: In Pursuing of the common good”. Sthanu R Nair, Assistant Professor, attended the 67th Annual International Institute of Public Finance (IIPF) Congress hosted by IIPF in August, held at Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA, where he presented a paper titled. Vaibhav Chawla, FPM01/07-M Marketing Area student attended the “71st Annual Meeting of Spirituality in the Workplace” held in August in San Antonio, Texas, USA.
Sreekumar, librarian at the invitation of the Center for Human Research and Development Foundation, Philippines conducted a two-day workshop on Greenstone digital library software and information management applications in the International Conference on Libraries, Archives and Museums (I-CLAMS) on August at CSB Hotel, Manila, Philippines. Krishna K Ladha, Professor was invited by Copenhagen Business School presentation on the topic "The Rise of India's Judiciary as a Key Political Actor" on 24 May 2011 at USA. The Annual Financial Statement of the Institute for the financial year 2011-12, duly audited by the Chief Accountant General (Audit), Kerala is annexed to this report.
The Audited Annual Financial Statements and the Separate Audit Report together with the replies of the Institute were approved by the Board of Governors at the meeting held on 17 October 2012. Separate Audit Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India on the accounts of the Indian Institute of Manage Kozhikode for. We have audited the attached Balance Sheet of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kozhikode as on March 31, 2012 and the Income and Expenditure Account/Receipts and Payments Account for the year ended on that date under Section 20(1) of the Comptroller & Auditor General (Duties, Powers and Conditions of Service) Act, 1971.
Deficiencies not included in the audit report were brought to the notice of the Director, Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode through a management letter issued separately for remedial/corrective action. In so far as it relates to the balance sheet of the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode as on March 31, 2012; and. Insofar as it relates to the surplus income and expenditure statement for the year ended on that date.
The internal audit system is adequate and consistent with the scope and nature of the Institute's operations. Para-wise replies to the separate audit report of the Controller and Auditor General of India on the accounts of the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode.

Transactions denominated in foreign currency are accounted for at the exchange rate prevailing on the date of the transaction. In the opinion of Management, current assets, loans and advances have a realizable value in the ordinary course of business at least equal to the total amount shown on the balance sheet. The Institute is exempt from income tax under section 10 (23 C) (iii ab) of the Income Tax Act 1961, and therefore, no provision for income tax has been made in the account.
CAT Group has not indicated the Institute's share of CAT income for the current year until the date of completion of the accounts. The LIC policy regarding gratuity liability is not reflected in the accounts from the current year.
