Brief on India’s agricultural and allied trade with Sri Lanka
The latest data on agricultural trade and allied between India and Sri Lanka is annexed (Tab 1 &2).
1) Analysis of agriculture and allied trade between India and Sri Lanka
(a) In the year 2015-16, India’s total exports of agricultural and allied commodities to Sri Lanka were to the tune of US $ 431.26 Million. India’s principal exports during this period were onion, fruits of genus capsicum, sugar, rice, chickpeas, etc.
(b) During the same period the agricultural and allied imports from that country were of the order of US $ 291.47 Million. India’s principal import were pepper, areca nuts, preparation of a kind used in animal feeding, black tea, other sweetened flavored waters, cloves etc.

3) Potential agriculture items of India’s export to Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka imports the following agricultural items from other countries of the world which India has potential to export to that country.

7 Potatoes, garlic For these items, India’s global exports and Sri Lanka global imports were more than US$ 2 million in 2015. However, Sri Lanka imports of these items from India were either Nil or insignificant during the said year.
