Sub: Tender for Major Instruments at CRNN

Sealed tenders in two bids system (Technical Bid & Financial bid) are invited from bonafide, resourceful and eligible manufacturers/exclusive distributors for the following instruments listed below.

1. Inverted Fluorescent Microscope

2. Microplate based Spectrophotometer & Microdrop plate

3. Mini Vertical gel apparatus ,Western Blotting Module , Fast Blotting System and Power Supply apparatus

4. Gel Documentation system

5. Specimen Freezing Microtome / Cryostat

6. Double-barrier Langmuir-Blodgett Normal Trough 7. Chiller for High Pressure Equipment

8. Lyophilyser (Freeze Dryer) 9. Vacuum Pumping System 10. Electrochemical Workstation

Part – I (Technical Bid) of the tender should contain technical details and commercial terms and conditions and Part – II (Price Bid) should indicate group-wise price as mentioned in the Technical Bid where applicable. The Technical Bid and Price bid are to be submitted in two separately sealed envelopes distinctly marked accordingly and both to be put inside another envelope, which should be sealed and super scribed with tender notice no. and due date. The bidders may submit bids duly signed in their own letterheads.

All tenders should reach to the office of The Director, Centre for Research in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CRNN), University of Calcutta, JD-2, Sector-III, Salt Lake City, Kolkata-700098 before March 16, 2015 in one sealed envelope.

The tender notice number along with the serial number and name of the instrument for which the tender is being submitted should clearly be written on the envelope.

The technical bids will be opened first to evaluate the technical specifications of the equipment thereafter, the Price bids of only technically qualified bidders will be opened.

The opening date of technical as well as price bid is March 18, 2015.

Required Specifications for the Instruments

1. Required Specifications for ‘Inverted Fluorescent Microscope’

 Single compact integrated unit including: cell imaging system, digital camera, computer, high power fluorescence lighting system and LCD or LED display.

 Should have 3 independent high output LED illuminators with integrated hard coated fluorescence bandpass excitation and emission filters for each cube or better.

 Fluorescence LED light cube must be a single, interchangeable cube can be easily removed and installed

 Fluorescence LED illuminators must have a lifetime of 50,000 hours at 100% power or better

 System must automatically recognize which cube is installed and adjust the software configuration accordingly.

 LED illuminators must have independent intensity control.

 System must be able to simultaneously accommodate 4 fluorescent LED light cubes

 Should be integrated high-sensitivity monochrome interline CCD camera with 1.4 million 6.45um pixels or better

 System must be able to accommodate a minimum of 5 objectives at once which can be user defined OR must include 20x, 40x, 60x and 100x phase contrast fluorite objectives

 System should have rack and pinion “glide” stage with SBS microplate opening and Accessory vessel holders

 System must be able to sequentially acquire a phase contrast image and a fluorescence image with mouse click, then overlay them automatically.

 System must include time lapse imaging capability with automatic movie creation.

 System must include manual Cell counting capability.

 System must provide the following output file formats: jpg, bmp, tiff, png or others

 System should have onstage CO2 incubator to handle various samples for cell culture.

 System should have Co2 controller unit as well as software to control Co2 percentage within incubator.

 Co2 Incubator should allow precise specimen temperature adjustment.

 It should allow stable and smooth ambient temperature control.

2. Required Specifications for ‘Microplate based Spectrophotometer & Microdrop plate’

 A spectral scanning unit for UV-visible-Near IR wavelength range, should be able to measure 96 & 384 microwell plate format and for low volume sample plate.

 A monochromator based wavelength selection using Xenon Flash lamp as light source for better performance.

 Instrument should able to provide the wavelength range from 200nm to 1000nm with 1 nm steps.

 Spectral scanning speed should be: maximum 10 sec from 200 to 1000 nm with 1 nm steps per sample.

 Performance Specifications :

 Wavelength accuracy: 2 nm or better;

 Wavelength repeatability: 0.2 nm or better;

 Bandwidth: < 2.5 nm;

 Read-out range: Up to 4 Abs;

 Stray Light: 0.05% @ 230nm

 The instrument should have inbuilt incubation and linear shaking options for bio assays etc.

 Incubation temperature: +4°C to +45°C.

 Measurement speed should be 6 sec. for 96 well and 10 sec. for 384 well plate

 System should able to run in stand-alone mode using 4.5 inch color display and keypad.

 System should able to run with computer & software controlled mode.

 The instrument should have a memory of 99 inbuilt protocols in stand-alone mode.

 The instrument should have minimum 2 USB ports.

 System should have Power Save function for reduced energy consumption when the instrument is „on‟ but not in use.

 Instrument should have upgradation option for measuring accessory plate used for 16 low volume samples (2µl-10µl) in case of DNA/RNA estimation.

 Instrument should have an option for path length corrections to correlate the micro plate data to cuvette, in case of nucleic acid quantification performed on micro plate

 Software language should be English

 Data Analysis Software Microplate based Spectrophotometer & Microdrop plate:

 Analysis software should be supplied with the instrument and has unlimited user system license.

 Software should have option for area selection. i. e different protocols at different area of the same plate.

 Database based software to run backups of all data, restore back up data (in case of hardware failure of original computer).

 Spectral scanning of all 96 samples or 384 samples should be able to view in single graph plot.

 Single software program should allow any number of measurement steps within the program.

 Software feature should include, calibration curve fit, parallel line analysis , user defined equations etc.

3. Required Specifications for ‘Mini Vertical gel apparatus, Western Blotting Module, Fast Blotting System and Power Supply apparatus’

Mini Vertical gel for 8 X 7 cm gels:

 High throughput- Capable of running up to 4 mini gel (8 X 7 Cm) simultaneously.

 Flexible- Capable of running hand cast as well as precast gel.

 Running and casting module should be different.

 Interchangeable module- Should be capable of using blotting module to do western blotting also.

 Leak proof, tape free and easy assembly.

 Patented Flap wing for leak proof assembly.

 Permanently bonded spacer plates for leak proof, without agarose sealing & taping casting of gels.

 System should have casting frame with simple cam closure mechanism that gives precision alignment on any flat surface.

 Should have side by side casting stands that allow access to both gels simultaneously.

 Modular design can be used do western blotting by using the blotting module only.

 Should able to run gels in 15-20 mins.

 Should come with buffer dam.

 It should be Supplied with 10% Stainfree Fast Acrylamide Starter Kit.

Western Blotting Module:

 It should be compatible with small SDS page Unit.

 It should be capable of doing the western blotting of the mini gels.

 It should be capable of running 2 blots simultaneously.

 Color coded cassettes for proper orientation of gels and membranes.

 System should be able to transfer two mini gels.

 Ice free cooling unit for proper temperature control for western blotting.

4. Required Specifications for ‘Gel Documentation System’

 Should be a Versatile system to support wide range of applications like- Fluorescent dye like syber green, syber safe, Western blotting, 2-D, 1-D, Dot Blotting, Nucleic acid detection , Densitometry etc.

 Should have true 12 bit CCD camera with resolution Image resolution >4 mega pixels.

 Should have Image acquisition with automatic focus and iris adjustments for all applications.

 Should have Large trans illuminator area 25 X 26 cm.

 It should universal dark hood & upgradeable to chemilumnescence.

5. Required Specifications for ‘Specimen Freezing Microtome/Cryostat’

 Should be a Freely standing cryostat with chamber temp. Down to -30°C .Cooling time (up to the max. low temp.) should not be more than 6 hours. Actively cooled quick freeze shelf with for freezing down to -35°C with Specimen storage shelf to store up to 10 chucks or more.

 Should have Maintenance free microtome with section thickness setting preferably from 2 to 60 µm.

 Equipment must be suitable for sectioning of specimen having diameter at least up to 50 mm or above & facility of Specimen orientation must be provided.

 Should have Vertical Specimen Stroke length: 55 mm or above, Horizontal Specimen feed: Approx. 25 mm

 Provision must be available for 2 Electric coarse feed(preferably at 900 µm/sec and 600 µm/sec. – as rapid & slow respectively) coarse feed speeds.

General Instructions and Terms and Conditions:

1. Incomplete & conditional tenders and tenders received after the due date will be summarily rejected without assigning any reasons thereof.

2. Only experienced suppliers (sole manufacturers or authorized distributors) should submit quotation. The submitted quotation should accompany valid documentary evidence that relates to the experience of the company in related field for more than 15 years.

3. The Supplier/Manufacturers/exclusive distributors/vendors should have history of supplying, at least ten, this type of instrument to this or other University/Research Organizations/Institutes.

4. Please attach the list of similar installations done in India.

5. The quotation should be clearly written and the specifications of the quoted item should be properly mentioned, which should follow the points mentioned under specifications of the requested item. The model number, make, and a printed literature of the product shall submit positively.

6. Payment: 100% against delivery and successful installation subject to submission of performance guarantee.

7. Installation/Demonstration /Application Training at site: Free of cost by the supplier

8. Warranty: Minimum 02 years

9. Service facility: Supplier should mention their details of service setup and Manpower at Calcutta who will be responsible for after sales support. Response time should be within 48 hours.

10. A non-refundable charge of Rs. one thousand only (Rs. 1000/-) is applicable with the submission of the tender documents. This should be paid by demand draft payable in Kolkata, India, drawn in favour of “CRNN, University of Calcutta”.

11. If the quotation is being submitted on behalf of a principal company, a valid authorization certificate of dealership should be submitted. The dealer should also provide a certificate stating the permission to quote the product under consideration to CRNN, University of Calcutta. Any photocopies submitted in this regard should be self attested with company stamp.

12. The company should provide valid documents related to the permanent account number, sales tax, value added tax and trade license (for the current financial year 2014-2015), with self attested photocopies and company stamp in the documents.

13. Price should be mentioned in Indian currency as well as in international currency (wherever applicable) and should include all other charges (carriage, insurance etc.) until it reaches the destination, including taxes. Installation charges (if any) should be included within the quoted price.

14. Delivery and installation time frames should be properly mentioned in the quote. The instrument should be delivered within thirty days from the date of placing the order.

15. The product under interest will be used for educational purposes. Any educational discount should be included and clearly mentioned in the quotation.

16. Quotes should be valid for at least four months.

17. The purchasing authority reserves the provision of minor modifications in the specifications, only if it feels as an absolute necessity.

18. Guarantee certificate, users manuals etc. are to be handed over to the user after successful commissioning of the system.

19. In case of any dispute, the decision of the Institute authority shall be final and binding on the bidders.

20. The university reserves the right to accept or reject any or all the submitted quotations without assigning any reason whatsoever.
