Advertisement for Recruitment of Assistant Professor and Consultant (Legal) at the level of Assistant Professor
The Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL) was established in the year 2016 by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT). CTIL’s primary objective is to provide sound and rigorous analysis of legal issues pertaining to international trade and investment law to the Government of India and other governmental agencies. The Centre has already created a dedicated pool of legal experts who routinely provide technical inputs to various agencies of the Government and work towards enhancing India’s participation in international trade and investment negotiations and dispute settlement.
The Centre intends to engage qualified lawyers – 1 (one vacancy) Assistant Professor and 2 (two vacancies) Consultant (Legal) at the level of Assistant Professor. The application is open to lawyers with a post-graduate degree in Law having good familiarity of International Trade/Investment Law and a minimum relevant experience of three years.
The appointment shall be purely on a contractual basis for a period of one year which could be extended depending upon the performance of the incumbent and future requirements of the Centre. The post is to be filled on a direct recruitment basis. The educational qualifications and other criteria for selection are as follows:
Assistant Professor: Pay Level 11 (Rs. 68,900 – Rs. 117,200)
1. The candidate should possess expertise on issues related to International Trade Law and International Investment Law with a postgraduate degree in Law.
2. Minimum three (3) years of work experience or research and studies in international trade and related areas.
3. Sectoral (Officer Level)/research/teaching experience is desirable.
4. The candidate must have qualified National Eligibility Test (NET). A Ph.D. qualification is desirable.
5. Publication of research articles in peer-reviewed journals or other renowned academic publications is desirable.
6. Consistently good academic record with at least 60% (or equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at graduation (LL.B or B.A.LL.B) and post- graduation (LL.M. or other equivalent degrees) levels.
Consultant (Legal) at the level of Assistant Professor: Pay Level 10 (Rs. 57,700 – Rs.
98,200)
1. The candidate should possess expertise on issues related to International Trade Law and International Investment Law with a postgraduate degree in Law.
2. Minimum three (3) years of work experience or research and studies in international trade and related areas. For one of the two positions, preference will be given to candidate having requisite work experience in the area of Trade Remedy measures.

Emoluments payable:
The gross monthly emoluments payable to the candidate engaged as Assistant Professor or Consultant (Legal) at the level of Assistant Professor may be revised from time to time.
In addition, the selected candidates shall be entitled to Casual Leave, Earned Leave, Medical facilities and LTC as applicable.

The applications received from candidates who do not fulfil the prescribed qualifications and experience shall be rejected. The shortlisted candidates will have to appear for interview before the Selection Committee in New Delhi. The date and time of the written test and interview shall be intimated to the shortlisted candidates only by e-mail in due course. It is also brought to the notice of all concerned that no TA/DA shall be payable to the candidates appearing for the written test and interview and that the candidates coming from outside Delhi will have to make their own arrangements for stay in Delhi and the Centre shall neither pay for nor arrange their accommodation.
