WALK-IN-INTERVIEW⁺

The following positions are to be filled up on a purely temporary and contractual basis up to 30-06-2019 in ICMR funded project entitled ‘Pilot scale bio-ecological studies on Aedes aegypti population in Chennai city, Tamil Nadu towards developing an alternate

Dengue/Chikungunya control strategy’ at ICMR National Institute of Malaria Research, IDVC, Field Unit, Chennai. All eligible applicants are adviced to report at the venue sharp at 09.30 am and those applicants who are reporting beyond 10.30 am on the date of interview will not be considered.

Essential Qualification Graduate in Science /Microbiology /Medical Microbiology from a recognized university with five years work experience from a recognized institution

OR

Master’s degree in Virology /Molecular Virology / Microbiology

Desirable qualification and Experience  Working experience in field collection of mosquito immature, sampling techniques, rearing of mosquitoes, adult collection of mosquitoes, insecticide susceptibility tests, screening and detection of virus in mosquito specimens.

 Knowledge of Computer applications

 Data recording and management, data analysis, SPSS, GPS plotting

Emoluments Rs. 32,000/-per month

Place of Posting ICMR- NIMR Field Unit, Chennai

Age 30 years (relaxation of 3 years for OBC and 5 years

for SC/ST candidates)

Nature of Duties  Planning and coordination of field activities

 Assisting PI in data management and analysis

 Execution and coordination of laboratory works

 Any other work assigned by Director/PI

Essential Qualification 12^th pass in Science subjects and two years diploma (DMLT) (OR)12^th pass in Science subjects with one year DMLT plus one year required experience in a recognized organization or two years relevant field/laboratory experience* in Govt. recognized organization

(*B.Sc. degree in Biological Science shall be treated as 3 years experience)

Desirable qualification and Experience  Working experience in field data

collection/laboratory experiments on vector mosquitoes

 Can read, write and speak in English and Tamil

Nature of Duties  Involvement in field data collection/laboratory experiments

 Field data recording (digital) and

immature/adult mosquito sample collection

 Overall responsibility of field work

 Any other work assigned by Director/PI/

Essential Qualification 10^th Pass* or equivalent with five years experience in related field (field/laboratory work) from a Government institution or recognized institute (*12^th pass with science subjects and B.Sc. shall be treated as equivalent to 2 and 3 years experience respectively)

 Can read, write and speak in Tamil

Nature of Duties  Field work and mosquito immature and adult specimen collection; transportation to the laboratory and rearing

 Placement of mosquito traps, retrieval and transportation to the laboratory

+ a written test may be conducted if the number of eligible candidates for each post are more than 30.

Other Information:

1. Qualification and experience should be from Government recognized organizations.

2. Mere fulfilling the essential qualification does not guarantee for the selection.

3. Person already in regular time scale service under any Government Department/Organizations are not eligible to apply.

4. Candidates fulfilling the above qualifications and willing to apply for the post can fill up the

5. Self-attested copies of certificate in support of date of birth, community, Educational Qualification (Certificate/Statement of marks), experience as mentioned under essential qualification must be enclosed and submitted with the application.

6. All the original certificates/relevant documents/certificates in support of age, community, qualification and experience need to be brought for verification.

7. Failure to bring the original certificates for verification will be disqualified

8. No travelling allowance will be paid to the candidate for appearing walk-in-interview/written test.

9. NOC is necessary in the case of persons serving in Central/State Govt./ Autonomous Bodies/PSUs.

10. The selected candidate will have no claim for regular appointments in any ICMR Institutes/Centres for continuation of his/her services in any other project.

11. Incomplete applications or non submission of certicate copies will be rejected.
