NIEPID

The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID) (Divyangjan) formerly known as National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped (NIMH) established in the year 1984 at Manovikasnagar, Secunderabad (TS) is an autonomous body under the administrative control of Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. The institute is an apes body having tripartile functions of training, research and services in the field of Intellectual Disability in the country.

The Institute has been making significant advances in capacity building and empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disability along with its three regional centres at Kolkata, Delhi/NOIDA & Navi Mumbai and Model Special Education Centre at Delhi/NOIDA

Regional Centre Mumbai

NIEPID Regional Centre Mumbai was established in 1987. Since it’s inception the centre has started its outreach services and in-house services including General Services such as- Special Education, Psychological Assessment, Behavior Management, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Extension and Outreach Services, Human Resource Development, Consultancy services and Research.

Concept Note

The two days seminar on “Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder- Assessment, Diagnosis & Intervention” aims to bring together rehabilitation professionals, students of rehabilitation training programmes, researchers and other stake holders and provide a platform to share their experiences and expertise in providing quality services to Persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder to facilitate their successful inclusion and adult Independent Living.

Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 included Autism Spectrum Disorder among the 21 categories of disabilities covered by the act. It ensures to uphold the dignity of Persons with Disabilities in society and prevent any kind of Discrimination. Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is very important to create awareness and positive environment for persons with ASD.

It will facilitate the early identification & early intervention and apply modern practices of intervention for persons with ASD.

Abstract and Paper Submission:

Original, unpublished thematic and research papers from teacher educators, rehabilitation professionals, researchers and other stakeholders of disability rehabilitation are invited. Papers should focus on the themes of the seminar.

The presenter should submit an abstract of around 200-250 words that provide the summary of the paper and key words

Full paper should have maximum 3000 words including figures and tables etc.

Abstract and papers should be submitting MS word, font Times New Roman for English, font size 12; font Mangal for Hindi, font size 14 with 1.5 line spacing on A4 size.

Mention Name(s) of Author(s), Designation, Postal address, e-mail address, telephone/mobile number on a separate sheet attached in front of the abstract as well as the full length paper.

Poster submission:

The poster should be related to the theme of the seminar.

For poster presentation, the size of the final poster to be displayed should be 4x3 feet.

The layout should be horizontal/landscape. The content should display introduction, methodology, results and discussions. With preference to graphical and pictorial representation in Times New Roman Font.

Mention Name(s) of Author(s), Designation and Name of the Institute at the lower right corner of the poster.

Full Length Paper Submission: 6th November 2019
