MAT–O–508B: Introduction to Fundamentals of Computer Mathematics

Course Outcome: To acquaint students with the important basic mathematical background of computer applications and operations.

Unit Contains Marks

I Introduction to number system: Binary, Octal, Decimal and Hexadecimal Number system and their conversion and Arithmetic, Two’s complement, 1’s Complement and 2’s Complement Arithmetic.

II Permutations and Combinations, Sum and Product rules, Pigeonhole Principle and Applications.

III Mathematical Logic, Statements, Variables, Logical Operators, Truth Table, Boolean algebra, logic diagrams, logical expressions/functions.

IV Graphs and Trees: Introduction and Examples, Paths, Reachability, and Connectedness, Matrix Representation of Graph, Trees and Spanning Trees.

V Project: Project Report in consonance with the course covered by Units I to IV (Project Report: 15, Presentation: 10, Viva-Voce: 05)
