REPORT OF THE VISIT OF THE STUDENTS OF VIVEKANANDA KENDRIYA VIDLAYA TO ASSAM UNIVERSITY, SILCHAR ON 14TH OCTOBER, 2022
The Department of Statistics, Assam University along with a few other Science departments of the University hosted the excursion cum study tour visit of the students of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) from different parts of Assam and Nagaland. The University organized the event on 14th of October, 2022 and the Statistics department too welcomed the students with open arms. A total of approximately 60 participants attended the event out of which 45 students and 15 teachers were present. The students were from three standards viz. class VIII, IX and X standard of VKV schools of the two mentioned states.
Dr. Dibyojyoti Bhattacharjee, Professor in the department of Statistics undertook the responsibility and planned the event in a systematic manner. The program started with a welcome speech, addressed by Dr. Tanusree Deb Roy, Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics, Assam University which was then followed by an interactive session conducted by Prof. Dibyojyoti Bhattacharjee.
As it is believed that the most vital skill of a person’s life is his ability of taking the correct decisions at the correct time and this art of decision science is a sub part of the field Statistics.
Prof. Bhattacharjee delivered a talk on “Data Collection Tools Related to Human Attributes”.
The students attending this presentation were given an insight overview of the characteristics of human nature. The students were provided with a questionnaire where a set of statements were to be responded depending on the given options. Each of these statements deals with a characteristic of human behavior. The session was an interactive one and importantly it would help to nurture and furnish the thinking ability and behavioral structure of their day to day life.
The program ended with a vote of thanks from Dr. Tanusree Deb Roy and a small token of love from the department to the teachers and students of the schools. This initiative taken would definitely help the students in the long run of their life and fruitfully shape their future personality.
