This is in

continuation

of MOOCs offered in the July, 2018 semester on

SWAYAM

Platform.

I am

pleased

to inform that more than 4 lakh learners including

students, teachers professionals, senior citizens, are enrolled

in

these courses through

SWAYAM

Platform, and education

is

reaching

the

unreached

through the SWAYAM Initiative of

Government

of

India.

Approximately

1082 Courses were offered under

SWAYAM

during the last academic year.

As you

are already aware,

UGC is

the

National

Coordinator

for the

Non-Technology PG

MOOCs

Courses

on the SWAYAM Platform. The UGC (Credit Framework for

Online Courses

through SWAYAM)

Regulation

2016

enables regular students

to

earn credits

for SWAYAM

Courses.

The

list of

58 UGC PG MOOCs courses to be offered

in

January Semester

2019

is enclosed herewith and may be seen at UGC MOOCs Website:-

The Universities are requested to help

in this quality initiative of

Govt.

of

India through the Adoption _, Development and promotion of MOOCs on

SWAYAM

as given below:

Adoption

The Universities across India are requested

to

help

in

this quality

initiative of

Govt,

of

India through

the Adoption of MOOCs

Course through

SWAYAM platform in their

university.

The

UGC

requests the universities

to

obtain

the

approval

of its

statutory bodies and make efforts

to

^see that each faculty /department/school chooses at least one MOOCs course

in

the

coming

session.

The

Courses adopted

by the University may be intimated to the

UGC through the

following link

Annexure-I

Development

The Universities are also

requested

to

encourage

faculty

members

of the university

to produce

MOOCs

courses,

which will give them the opportunity of using ICT tools for

teaching leaming purpose and also provide them global

visibility by

applying

in

response to

rolling

advertisement on the UGC MOOCs website (https://ugcmoocs.inflibnet.ac.in/swalyam/

) on any

^subject

of their

^choice

out of the curriculum for the post

graduate prograrnmes undertaken by the university. The UGC

will

provide financial assistance as per the

MOOCs

guidelines. The Universities

which

are under section

2(f)

and 12B

of UGC Act,

1956, and eligible to receive central assistance may apply to UGC for this grant.

Promotion

Further

to Promote

the MOOCs Courses on

SWAYAM,

UGC has developed TVCs,

jingles

and posters

for

creating awireness about the

SWAYAM initiative.

Universities are requested

to

make effective use

of

the social media tools

like TWITTER, FACEBOOK,

WHATSAPP etc.

for

popularising

MOOCs

amongst

the

students and

faculty.

These

TVCs

_,

jingles

_and

posters are available on

UGC

website.

UGC

has also

identified SWAYAM

Coordinators

in Universities and SWAYAM Mentors in colleges to work as Local Chapters for

the

SWAYAM

courses amongst students

in particular and the

academic

fraternity at

large, thereby enabling a bigger and

wider

access

to

students avail the benefits

of

MOOCs.
