Health-care wand
CS300A: Technical Communications
Proposal by: Ujjawal Goyal Instructor: Rajat Mittal
1 Project Overview
1.1 Motivation
We are facing a large number of diseases these days. The patience in the hospital is continuously increasing.
Our environment is getting polluted with each passing day.
All of this is challenging us to keep ourselves healthy and safe.
Did you ever think about What could be the primary cause of illness?
Improper Healthcare, Not taking proper diet, Lack of essentials nutrient, etc.
And here comes our Health-care wand.
1.2 Summary
The basic idea behind our band is to take data from your body, run algorithms on it, and give you personalize results and recommendations.
It’ll help you by doing the following:
1. Monitoring heart rate 2. Monitoring breathing 3. Tracking calories Intake 4. Tracking calories burnt
5. Tracking body temperature and alert when suspect changes 6. Track diet and give suggestions
7. Sleep tracking
1.3 Novelty
Our product gives unparalleled benefit to the person using it compared to the others. And there is not any device in the market that can provide all the functionalities to the user, a fitness watch band exists, but it only gives some functionalities.
2 Project Details
2.1 Architecture
Our Band will Consist of several layers:
• Sensing Layer: This layer has sensors embedded in the device; these sensors collect data like number of footsteps, heart rate, body temperature, etc. The data collected by sensors are sent to servers using Wide Area Network such as GSM, GPRS, and LTE.
• Ultra extraction Layer: This layer has ultra advanced feature embedded in the device; Which collects data like vitamins, minerals, protein, fats, water, carbohydrates, sugar level in blood, alcohol in you body, etc. The data collected are sent to servers using Wide Area Network.
• MAC Layer: This layer is responsible for device monitoring and control, quality-of-service manage- ment, and power management.
1
• Network Layer: This layer takes care of transmission, routing, and addressing using IPV6. With IPV6, address allocation and management can be done more efficiently, hence it is chosen over other Internet protocols.
• Processing and storage Layer: In this layer, the data received from the sensing layer is analyzed and stored in databases. This layer is also responsible for security control.
• Service Layer: This layer provides the analyzed and processed data to other services like mobile application on Android or iOS.
2.2 Implementation
It measure motion. The 3-axis accelerometer track movement in every direction and gyroscope measure orientation and rotation. The data collected is then converted into steps and activity and into calories and sleep quality, though there is some guesswork involved along the way.
These sensors measure all the biological data and this information is collected and crunched to create an overall reading, and the more sensors one’s tracker has, the more accurate its data. We use optical sensors to shine a light on a person’s skin and measure a person’s pulse through it: the light illuminates capillaries and thereafter a sensor measures the rate at which the blood is being pumped (and thus the heart rate).
We have our ML model which takes the crunched data and gives useful feedback in terms of body’s condition and Improvement suggestion.
