EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION OF INCOME INSURANCE SCHEMES TO ACHIEVE MAXIMUM COVERAGE SCHEME TO ACHIEVE MAXIMUM COVERAGE OF FARMERS OVER KHARIF 2016. As a result of the review, a new scheme “Pradhan YooPMF for Kharif” (Pradhan YoPMF) 2016 has been approved together with the pilot Unified Package Insurance scheme (UPIS) and the restructured Weather Based Insurance scheme (WBCIS). In the case of annual commercial and horticultural crops, the maximum premium to be paid by farmers will be only 5%.

India accounts for about 13 percent of the total world production of fruits and is the world leader in the production of mango, banana, papaya, sapota, pomegranate, sour lime and aonla. The production of spices in the country has registered a significant increase over the last nine years. Coconut accounts for the majority of plantation crop production, followed by cashew nuts and arecanut.

Hybrids of tomato, chilli, cucumber and muskmelon are produced in various places in the country. Assistance is provided for the construction of naturally ventilated greenhouses which involves a financial assistance of 40% of the total cost. In the fruit nurseries, mechanization was achieved with the help of media sieve, media mixer and plastic bag filler.

The financial assistance @ 50% of the total cost of plant and machinery and engineering works in general areas and 75% for NE region and difficult areas (North Eastern States, Sikkim, J&K, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand) subject to a maximum grant- in aid of Rs 10 Crore per project is provided for the establishment of the cold chain infrastructure in the country. The funding pattern under ASCAD in respect of NE states has been changed, where it will be 90:10 centre: state sharing basis. New activity viz: Endo-parasitic control in cattle and buffaloes under ASCAD is included. The nutritional objective is to provide the level and balance of nutrients required to achieve the production, reproduction and product quality targets of the livestock enterprise as efficiently and economically as possible. Energy intake required for resting or maintenance functions is proportional to metabolic body weight, which is a function of live weight (LW); grazing animals may require an average of 30 percent more maintenance energy to walk than stall-fed animals. Energy, protein and mineral requirements for production are in addition to those required for maintenance; production is only possible after meeting maintenance requirements.

The broad role of the Strategic Partner is comprehensive and includes writing the software, customizing it to meet the specific requirements of the mandis in the states that are willing to integrate with NAM and run the platform. States should ensure that reforms are carried out in both form and spirit through appropriate and unambiguous provisions in the APMC Acts and Rules. The status of reform in respect of these three reform provisions as provided in the respective APMC Acts of the states is at Annexure-II.

The scope of KCC is broad and includes long-term credit and consumption needs. The extent of the total loss amount to be shared between the Central Government and the State Government on a 50:50 basis is limited to 25 percent of the total purchase value, including the cost of the asset purchased plus allowable overheads. Under the scheme, a predetermined quantity at the fixed market intervention price (MIP) proposed by the state government will be purchased by the agency designated by the state government for a fixed period or until prices stabilize above the MIP, whichever is earlier. .
