About University
Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda is an affiliating Technical University, established by Govt. of Punjab vide Punjab Act No. 5 of 2015 notified through Punjab Government Gazette- Extraordinary (Regd. No. CHD/0092/2015- 2017) notification No. 5-Leg./2015 dated 12th February 2015 and registered under section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC. The objectives of this new Technical University at Bathinda are to provide, upgrade and promote Quality Technical &
Scientific Education, Training and Research in Technical & Scientific Education to create entrepreneurship and a conducive environment for the pursuit of Technical & Scientific Education in close cooperation with industry.
About Department of Physics
The Department of Physics was established as independent department in 2012. Earlier it was a part of Department of Applied Sciences in Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology since 1989 which used to cater the needs of engineering students. Since the inception of the Department, Post-Graduate course in M.Sc. Physics was started in 2012 and now from session 2019-2020, the B.Sc.
(Hons.) Physics has been started. The Department further expand into various specialisation in Physics. It has come up as good research and development centre in this region.
Major strength of the department is its Faculty having vast teaching and research experience within India and abroad. Department also offers Ph.D. program (full time and part time) in specialised areas: Radiation Physics, Nuclear Physics, Condensed Matter Physics, Nontechnology, Ferroelectric Ceramics, Polymer Composite Films, Theoretical Physics.

Category-1 (Women Only)
Innovation Contest for Women in STEM:
Eligibility Criteria:
This contest is open to all female faculty members, female students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate & Doctoral degrees in science and engineering streams.
All the participants must be bonafide students of the University/ Institution/College.
Rules and Regulations:
All the participants will register for the Contest on the registration portal and submit the one page details of their innovative research ideas.
The candidates will be shortlisted by the jury, on the basis of Scientific and Technical Innovation, Quality of proposal and Business Potential.
The shortlisted entries will be informed by the organizers and the selected female candidates will be required to present their proposal through a 10 minute PPT.
The final round of entries will again be evaluated by a team of experts, based on the research and innovation potential of the proposal. The Jury will select three best ideas having commercialization/
application potential.
A one page summary of the 3 best selected ideas would be forwarded to PSCST for showcasing at appropriate platforms.
Category-2 (Open for all)
Innovation and Technical Contest:
Eligibility Criteria:
This contest is open to all the students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate & doctoral degrees in science and engineering streams.
All the participants must be bonafide students of the University/ Institution/College.
Rules and Regulations:
This contest will held in following three subcategories:
Oral presentation: Candidate will present their proposal through a 10 minute PPT.
Poster presentation:Candidate will come with fully prepared poster of size 24" x 36“(approx.). On spot poster making shall not be allowed.
Debate: A team consist of two participants will discuss the pro and cons on the Debate topic. The topics for debate are (a) Pseudo-sciences and (b) Science and Superstition. On the selected topic one member will speak in favor for 5 minutes and other against it for 5 minutes.
Registration Fee
There is no registration fee from the participants.
