Tagore's creations are immortal and legendary and "Baishe Srabon" (as per Bengali calendar) always carries a special significance amongst all. An overcast sky with intermittent rain could not stop the students and faculty members from commemorating the death anniversary of the Noble Laureate Rabindranath Tagore on August 7, 2023.

There was a musical rendition followed by a general discussion on the last days of Tagore. The ambience of the language lab made Tagore's works more prominent in the minds of Narulites.The quote of Tagore echoed the lab-"let my thoughts come to you, when I am gone, like the afterglow of sunset at the margin of starry silence".

Commemoration of 115th Death Anniversary of Sahid Khudiram Bose

Narula Institute of Technology observed the 115th Death Anniversary of Sahid Khudiram Bose on 11th August,2023 at the institute. A Candle Light March was organized by the cultural team of the college, within the campus. Everyone walked and participated in it, accompanied by songs from the music team. The faculty, staff members and other students joined in paying tribute to the freedom fighters.

AUGUST 2023 | ISSUE2 Weeklong Celebration to mark the 77 years of Independence

"Maa Tujhe Salam"

Narulites expressed their love and respect towards our dear motherland through a series of events for the whole week of Independence. To commemorate the 77th Independence Day the campus was decorated with tricolour balloons, flags, portraits of freedom fighters and Rangoli.

On 12th August, the institute arranged a session-"How Independence Day has united us as a big nation" by Prof.(Dr.) Supratim Das-Vice Principal, Scottish Church College and on 13th August, a session was organised on "Civic Rights and duties of a responsible citizen" by Mr. Ganesh Biswas-Additional Superintendent, Police Operation, Bankura.

On 14th, NiT organized a Sit n Sketch competition on the subject "Portrait of Freedom Fighters". On the other hand an Elocution contest was arranged where the participants shared their perspective and understanding of the value of our freedom movement. During the afternoon, two solidarity matches were organized, one of Volleyball and the other Kho-kho. The students were infused by the spirit of “Meri Mati Mera Desh” and played solidarity matches among them.

On 15th August,the Indian flag was hoisted by Sardar Simarpreet Singh, Director, JIS group and Prof.(Dr).Soumen Banerjee, Principal of the Institute. Dr. Nidhi Singh, Registrar, Deans, HODs and other faculty,staff and students paid tribute to the nation by singing the national anthem. The NCC wing of the college showcased their honour to the national flag by the salute and shout of Vande mataram. The students sang patriotic songs and performed a drama depicting the brutality of the British government and how Indians struggled and achieved freedom.

The guest of honour for the day, Mr. Dipendu Biswas, former captain of Indian National Football Team, current Secretary of Mohammedan Sporting Club inaugurated the match with flag off.

The maiden shot of this dynamic match was taken by Dr. Nidhi Singh, (Registrar). After a fun filled 90 minutes, the match ended in a draw as both the teams showed high spirit and sportsmanship.

Through this match, we try to focus on overall development of the students and guide them towards a seamless future as it fulfills the promise to encompass sports, academics and cultural brilliance.

The Computer Science and Engineering department had organised an industrial visit to ARDENT COMPUTECH PVT. LTD to provide the CSE 3rd year students with practical insights into the activities of a real-world industrial setup on 24th, 26th and 28th July, 2023. The students were given a comprehensive tour of the company's facilities, including its state-of-the-art laboratories, data centres, and development areas.

During the tour, they were introduced to the trends in front-end and back-end software, the latest technologies and tools used in the industry, such as Full-stack development, C, Java, python and more.

The Department of Electrical Engineering in association with Institution of Engineers student chapter has organised an Industry Visit to Parle G, Dhulagarh on 11th August 2023. The student member of the chapter has attended the visit. Total 56 students participated in this visit.

Outcome: The batch process of the food industry was demonstrated by the Instructors of the company. They also discussed the process of testing and quality control at Parle G.

The Students of final year B.Tech. Electrical Engineering (EE) of Narula Institute of Technology visited Howrah 220kV substation of WBSETCL and State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC) on 18th August

2023 accompanied by faculty members. Total 10 students with good academic records were selected for this Industry Visit. Students learned

about the scheme of power transfer of the substation along with the control and protection system. They became familiarized with power transformers, reactors, circuit breaker, CT and Plug and Switch System (PASS).

Narulites stand by the wonder kids

The disability is a disorder, not a decision and the students and faculty members took a small effort to hold the hands of around 250 mentally challenged learners at a cultural event organised by Anandamoyee Mental Disability and Handicapped Society during their 10th Anniversary celebration.

The cultural team of the institute led by the faculty members presented a

wondrous musical programme which mesmerized the audience and encouraged the especially abled learners.

The smiling faces and melodious voice of the special kids brought tears of joy and firm conviction amongst the Narulites to extend all possible support to these distressed students in their future endeavours.

Institute of Technology organised a Seminar on

"Why NCC? :

Thrilling Opportunities to Explore the Skies" on 2nd August,2023. The

message was "Come, Join NCC Air Wing, and Give Your Career a Flying Start". The Seminar aimed to instil a

sense of pride in our nation and motivate the young minds to serve their country with dedication and determination.

Students. More than 30 students attended the session and were motivated to be a part of the unit.

Workshop on ‘Opportunities for Early Stage Entrepreneurs’

EDC cell and the IIC Cell of Narula Institute of Technology organized a workshop on ‘Opportunities for Early Stage Entrepreneurs’ commemorating World Entrepreneurship Day’ on 21st August, 2023 at 2 PM.

Shri Subir Roy, State Coordinator, EDII Ahmedabad and Mr. Satadru Chowdhury, M.D. Vaanahaa Education

& Innovation Labs were the speakers. More than 300 students from different disciplines participated in the workshop.

Project Competition on Waste Management

On 10th August 2023, a Project Competition on Waste Management was held for the 2nd-year students of Computer Science and

related fields, including CSE, CSBS, CST, and CSE(AI&ML).

The objective of this competition was to encourage innovative

and sustainable solutions to address the pressing issue of waste management.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students who presented their unique projects aiming to tackle various aspects

of waste management, including recycling, waste reduction, waste-to-energy solutions, and smart waste disposal

methods. The

competition aimed to foster creativity and promote awareness about environmental challenges among young minds.

Alumni Talk organized by CSE Department

Department of Computer Science &

Engineering and Alumni Association, Narula Institute of Technology (NiT) organized an “ALUMNI- TALK” program on 11th August 2023.

In this program, Alumni Mr. Nitesh Agarwal, a student of the 2012 pass-out batch of the CSE Department, Narula Institute of Technology (NiT) who is presently working as a Senior Member of Technical Staff, VMWare delivered a talk on "Industry Overview and Placement Guidance" to his juniors in a thoroughly interactive session.

"Build a Path: Navigating Your Career in Core Engineering"

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering along with the Alumni Association of Narula Institute of Technology has successfully organized an Alumni Talk on “Build a Path: Navigating Your Career in Core Engineering” on 16th August, 2023 from 10.30 AM onwards at the J C Bose Auditorium of NiT. The speaker of the event was a distinguished alumnus from the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mr. Rahul Sasmal (2018- 2022 Batch) working as an Intern in Qualcomm Bangalore.

Prof. Dr. Debasish Das of CSE Department was awarded a Phd from Kalyani University. His expertise arena of research is Block chain with the thesis titled

“Study and Survey on Security Issues in the Domain of Automobile and Transport System using Blockchain.”

The maiden session of Swagatam 2023: Student Induction Programme showcased the message of love and unity. The students and staff members of Narula Institute of Technology greeted the new entrants as well as the guests by putting chandan tilak on their forehead and tying rakhi on the wrist. A bunch of 2000 bubbly students at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre stood up and took a pledge of solidarity and celebrated the bond of care and affection. The mission of Swagatam 2023 to Empower the Leaders of Tomorrow was cherished through this.
