Profile of Prof. (Dr) Sanjiv Kumar Aggarwal
An acknowledged academician and academic administrator, Dr. Sanjiv Kumar Aggarwal, has to his credit an excellent and meritorious academic career throughout. He has obtained all his professional education from prestigious technological institutions of the country. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering with Distinction from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala in 1990. He followed it up with Master of Engineering Degree in Highway Engineering with Distinction from Punjab Engineering College Chandigarh with GATE Fellowship in 1992. While in service, he got MHRD’s QIP Fellowship to earn his PhD Degree in Transportation Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee in 2003.
He has a long and illustrious service career of serving at Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering & Technology, Bathinda, in various capacities since last twenty-six years. He has headed the Department of Civil Engineering for more than 4 years. He has also headed the Department of Training &
Placement at this College for 3 years. He has also served as Director, Punjab Institute of Technology, GTB Garh, Moga for 3 years, which is a constituent college of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda.
Presently he is serving as senior Professor of Civil Engineering and Dean of Distance Education Programme, MRSPTU, Bathinda.
He has participated in more than 50 National and International level Conferences, Seminars, Workshops and Professional Meetings in India and abroad and published more than 60 technical/research papers in various Journals and Conference Proceedings. He has guided more than 35 postgraduate students for completing their Master’s Dissertation and 2 doctoral students for completing their PhD Thesis. Five other PhD research scholars are currently pursuing their research work under his supervision.
He has travelled to UK, France, and Singapore to present his research work at various international platforms like World Roads Congress Paris, University of Birmingham, and Nanyang Technological University Singapore. He is an active member of the various International and National professional organizations such as ASCE, PIARC, REAAA, IRC, IEI, ISTE, IIBE, and IUT etc. He has been honoured with several awards such as Vikas Rattan Award, Bharat Jyoti Award, and Shiksha Rattan Award for his contribution to the society through his profession.
He has been actively engaged in providing technical consultancy to several Govt. and Private organization in the field of Highways, Railways and Airport Engineering. He is also coordinating the State Technical Agency set up by the Union Ministry of Rural Development for implementation of prestigious PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yozna) in the state of Punjab. He is on expert panel of several academic and technological organizations of the country for enriching and sharing his valuable experience gained over several years.
