C/R/2015/80387/1 receipt dated on 03.11.2015
2. In so far a Agriculture Census Division is concerned, it is informed that the Agriculture Census" India is conducted at an interval of five years since 1970-71 to collect data on Operational Holdings (which is defined as "All land which is used wholly or partly for agricultural production and is operated as one technical unit by one person alone or with others without regard to the title~ legal form, size or location"). The results, reports and other related documents are available on the website of the Department at http://agcensus.nic.in for public use. You may please refer the aforesaid website and link at the online database to access the related information on number, area and other characteristics (including pattern of land use) of operational holdings in the country. A copy of the table on land use of operational holdings in the country as per resul of Agriculture Census 2010-11 is enclosed. However, it may be noted that in Agriculture Census, data on barren land, details of conversion of farm lands for Industrial Development etc., are not collected/maintained and hence the same information is not available with the Division.
