List of Ph.D. Programmes-2014 Syllabus for Ph.D.
1 Applied Animal Science The syllabus for the entrance test would be in consonance to what has been prescribed by the UGC/ICAR/CSIR/ICMR/DBT/GPAT/GATE such central body for the National Eligibility Test in the subject concerned.
The Entrance test shall be based on a single question paper of two hours containing 80 questions related to concerned subject of one mark each.
The Merit List of candidates shall be prepared on the basis of the following criteria:
(i) Entrance test shall be of 80 marks & marks obtained in the written examination would be basis to qualify for interview. However, 5 marks be added to the marks obtained in the written examination to the candidates who have qualified in the National eligibility test or equivalent test of U.G.C/C.S.I.R/I.C.A.R/I.C.M.R/G.A.T.E/G.P.A.T/D.B.T/ D.A.E or passed M.Phil. at the time of interview.
(ii) Interview shall be of 15 marks.
(iii) The final Merit List shall be prepared by adding the marks obtained under above provisions (i) and (ii).

1 B.Ed Syllabus is divided into two parts:
1. General Awareness and Current Affairs-50%
2. Subject Specific-50% (Teaching aptitude, language proficiency, awareness relating to school administration, educational planning, educational policies, committees and commission, educational provisions and schemes).
2 M.Ed Syllabus is divided into two parts:
1. General Awareness and Current Affairs – 50%
2. Subject specific – 50% (School administration and Management, philosophical and sociological bases of education, technology of teaching, educational planning & policies, development of Indian education system, learner development and learning process, teaching and research aptitude).

Programmes Syllabus
M.A. Economics Basic Economics, Basic Statistics, Indian Economic Problems, Logical Aptitude, Mathematical Aptitude, General Studies. Basic Economics and Statistics, General and Indian Economic Problems.
M.A. History For the Entrance Test questions related to the subject will broadly cover Ancient , Medieval , Modern and Contemporary History. Emphasis will be on the study of the economic, social and cultural changes in the Indian society. In addition there will be questions of general interest.
Syllabus has two parts -
1. Subject Area (70 questions carrying total 70 marks): Ancient, Medieval and Modern Indian History.
2. General issues of contemporary relevance (30 marks): Pertaining to the social economic, political and cultural scenario.
M.A. Sociology Syllabus has two parts -
1. Subject Area (70 questions carrying total 70 marks): The students are expected to have graduation- level understanding about the sociological concepts, theories (functionalism and conflict theory), thought (Comte, Durkheim, Weber, Marx), research methodology, and India’s social structure, processes and change focusing on the post-independence period.
2. General issues of contemporary relevance (30 marks): Pertaining to the social, economic, political and cultural scenario.
M.A. Political Science Syllabus is divided into two parts -
1. Subject Areas (70 questions carrying total 70 marks): The test would cover largely the B.A Pass and B.A (Hons.) Political Science syllabus. The focus will be on the following areas—
a. Western Political Philosophy: Plato, Aristotle, Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, J.S.
Mill, Karl Marx
b. Modern Indian Political Thought: Gandhi and Ambedkar.
c. Political theory: Concepts of liberty, equality, justice, sovereignty, citizenship, stated.
International Relations: Cold War politics, NAM, SAARC, UNO, India’s foreign policy particularly with China, Pakistan and USA.
e. Indian Government and Politics: Making of the Constituent Assembly, parliament, cabinet, prime minister, president, state government, federalism, political parties (national and regional), elections, local government.
2. General issues of contemporary relevance (30 marks): Pertaining to political, social, economic and cultural scenario.

Information Science (MLISc.)
General Knowledge, General English, General Mathematics, General Awareness, Concept of Library and it’s services, Awareness of Information Science and Technology, Some Nationally and Internationally famous authors and their books and their contributions, Knowledge about famous Libraries and Information centres.
M Sc Environmental Science
Required knowledge of Chemistry, Life Science/Biology in general, including emphasis on Global and Indian Environmental problems/issues.
M Sc Environmental Microbiology
Required knowledge of Chemistry, Life Science/Biology in general, including emphasis on the role of microbes in dealing with Environmental problems/issues.
M Sc (Ag.) Horticulture Part A: General Agriculture, viz., Agronomy, Agricultural economics, Agricultural entomology, Agricultural extension and education, Agricultural engineering, Animal Husbandry and Dairy science, Agroforestry, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Plant Pathology and Plant Physiology.
