1 INTRODUCTION

Telosma is an old world genus native from Asia, tropical Africa and Oceania (Flora of China, 1995). Telosma Coville (Apocynaceae) is a genus containing about 10 species. The genus is represented by two species in India, namely Telosma pallida (Roxb.) Craib in Kew Bull. and Telosma cordata (Burm.f.) Merr. (Widodo, 2014). Only one species of Telosma is reported for the Central India, Madhya Pradesh state flora as T.pallida (Roxb.) Craib in Kew Bull., in the Flora of Madhya Pradesh, Vol. II by V. Mudgal & et al. (1997). During floristic exploration (2015-2018) in various parts of Madhya Pradesh, the author collected an interesting specimen from two localities namely Goradia and Kusumbia patches (Pandhana tehsil). The very fragrant flowering specimens of Telosma were identified as T. cordata (Burm.f.) Merr., which has been reported as a new addition to the flora of Madhya Pradesh state. The specimen is preserved in S.N.Govt.P.G.College, Khandwa, Research Center of Botany Department and living specimen in the Botanical garden of S.N.Govt.P.G.College, Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh (450001).
