Abstract- Online Journal Management System (OJMS) is an easy-to-use online journal publishing and management platform that is designed for improved editorial management of scholarly journals. It also enables better accessibility to content. This OJMS drastically reduces the broadcasting duration of research papers by managing the publishing cycle end-to-end.

Keywords: Journals, Electronic publishing, Academic Libraries, Research Papers.

1. INTRODUCTION

This Online Journal Management System (OJMS) is used for tracking manuscripts and accompanying correspondence through all stages of submission, preparation, and publication. It is a web-based application will also convert files from the major word processing formats to any of the major web-friendly formats. It is a framework that offers proven solutions to many of the world's largest international publishers in areas such as information analysis, editorial and production management, and physical and digital fulfilment for both books and journals.

1.1 Scope of the project

Functionality: The papers are uploaded through the website only for electronic publishing. After uploading of the manuscript, that manuscript will be allocated to a reviewer to be checked. If the uploaded paper satisfies all norms, it will be approved for the publishing.

Content: The project will be consists of following: - login & sign-up pages as well as Dashboards for authors and reviewers separately; it also consists of „home‟ page for guest visitors so as to access the published papers.

2. LITERATURE SURVEY

At present there is no such type of platform (OJMS) available in institutes so, students as well as college staff are facing shortage of a management system for their valuable researches. In Present journal systems, there is a lack of clean as well as simple user- interface.

2.1 Previous work

The [1] Allentrack is used for tracking manuscripts and accompanying correspondence through all stages of submission, preparation, and publication. The web-based application will also convert files from the major word processing formats to any of the major web- viewable formats. The [2] Bench Press is an online manuscript management system that includes the facilitation of peer review. It is customizable for each journal and will generate reports and statistics on the editorial process.

Bench Press can prepare manuscripts for print or online publication. In [3] Open Journal System (OJS) is a journal management and publishing software system developed by the Public Knowledge Project through its federally funded efforts to expand and improve access to research. Available as open source, OJS assists with every stage of the refereed publishing process, from submissions to online publication and indexing. Through its management systems and its finely grained indexing of research, OJS seeks to improve the scholarly quality of refereed research.

2.2 Objectives

 To make journals available online.

 To develop more efficient and flexible system that user needs.

 To provide simple, clean yet powerful user-interface.

 Encouraging the Students to express their researches.

 To reduce the paper work.

 To distribute Journals to a large number of audience.

 To reduce the processing/operational time.

3. EXISTING SYSTEM APPROACH

Currently there is no system present for the college-level management. Present management requires a lot of paper-work and is very time consuming with the validation process.

4. PROPOSED SYSTEM APPROACH

This not only reduces the paper-work but also would be helpful for keeping a track on the publishing journals as well as distributing them between a vast numbers of readers. Since all journals are available online, any user can go through them in real-time without delays.

4.1 Different Modules

Super Admin Module: Admin having the higher authority, which is a person who can check the total Journals, completed Journals as well as pending Journals.

Super admin has also the authority to create new admins and to manage their work, with admin module; admin can see all the pending Journals that are yet to be published. An admin is responsible for allocation of the pending journals to available and suitable reviewers. Admin has authority to approve/disapprove the reviewer‟s decision

Author Module: With author module, a person can apply for publishing his/her journal after filling up the sign up form.

Reviewer Module: In this module, a reviewer can examine a research paper in a group of 3 reviewers. Reviewer has the authority to update the „pending‟ status of an uploaded manuscript to one of the following: (1) Approved (2) Approved with some changes & (3) Rejected.

User Module: With user module user can create the account using the website and after lodging the complaints user can check the complaint status when it is accepted.

An activity diagram visually presents a series of actions or flow of control in a system similar to a flowchart or a data flow diagram. Activity diagrams are often used in business process modeling. They can also describe the steps in a use case diagram. Activities modeled can be sequential and concurrent. In both cases an activity diagram will have a beginning (an initial state) and an end (a final state).

5. CONCLUSION

In our project, we are providing hassle free service to both author and reviewer. It is explained about the working procedure of the system, the roles involved in the system and the activities and responsibilities those users. This paper presents the overview of the analysis and development of the Journal Management System. This system provides remarkable result for further development of such type of system or more complex systems.

This system will reduce the time and effort for submission of research journals.
