Course Title: Advanced Fluid Mechanics Lecturer: Dr. Afsaneh Mojra

Course Type: Required- Graduate Duration and

Hours: 16 weeks - 3 hours/week

Prerequisites: Students should be familiar with fluid mechanics fundamentals and classic mathematics. Typically, mechanical engineers have the required background.

Course Objectives:

This course aims to derive the partial differential equations governing the conservation of mass, momentum, and energy of an incompressible Newtonian fluid, define vorticity and circulation concepts and theorems, introduce complex potential function for the potential flow and analytical and approximate solutions of the Navier- Stokes equation for the viscous flow. Topics also include Navier- Stokes equations applied to wall-bounded flows, similarity solutions of the boundary-layer equations, momentum integral equation, separated flows and stability analysis of the boundary layers.
