In February 1966, the National Language Research Institute installed a HITAC 3010 computer system and Chinese character teletypewriters.
With these equipments we have been investigating the words and Chinese characters in modern newspapers and the use of such equipments in the linguistic analysis of Japanese. These books deal with the progress in the investigation of the use of Japanese words and characters and the various program systems developed in the process.
In addition, research reports concerning the processing of Chinese
characters, the automatic analysis of sentence structure, and the treatment of conjugational forms are included in these books.
