Professor Etsuko Yaguchi (Department of Education, Faculty of Letters) elected as 44th President
2020年 3 月末の竹村牧男学長の任期満了による退任に伴い、文学部 教育学科 矢口悦子教授を第44代東洋大学学長に選任しました。任期 は2020年 4月1日から2024年 3月31日までの4年間となります。
Professor Etsuko Yaguchi in the Department of Education, Faculty of Letters, has been elected as the 44th Toyo University President. Current President Makio Takemura will retire from office at the conclusion of his term, which is at the end of March 2020. Professor Yaguchi’s term of office will be four years from April 1, 2020, to March 31, 2024.

略歴
この 3月31日をもって、東洋大学学長の職を退任することになりま した。10年余の間、大過なく、任務を終えることができますことは、
ひとえに皆さま方の大きなご協力・ご支援の賜物 であり、心より厚く 御礼申し上げます。
在任中、2011年 3月には東日本大震災が発生し、大学運営には困難 がつきまといましたが、何とか乗り切ることができました。翌年の創立 125周年には、数々の周年事業も順調に実施でき、11月の記念式典では やや背伸びした「未来宣言」を発しました。その後、2014年の文部科学 省「スーパーグローバル大学創成支援」採択を契機に、キャンパスの 国際化・グローバル人財の育成が順調に進み、かの「未来宣言」も幾分、
現実味を帯びてきたように思われます。
今後は新学長の下で、教職員一同、学生、OB・OGらがともに本学の いっそうの質の向上に努められ、ますます発展されますことを心より お祈り申し上げます。

On March 31 this year, I will retire from the office of Toyo University President.
I believe that I have been able to perform my duties for some 10 years without serious problems thanks to the great cooperation and support from those involved. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of them.
I hope that the staff and faculty, students, and alumni will continue striving for higher quality and the further development of the University under the leadership of the new President.

ブルガリア共和国ルメン・ラデフ大統領による特別講演会を開催

2019年10月23日、白山キャンパスにてブルガリア共和国のルメン・ラデフ大統領 を招き、特別講演会を開催しました。ラデフ大統領は軍事学の博士号や 戦略論 の修士号を取得しており、ブルガリア空軍司令官などを歴任後、2 017年に 大 統 領 に 就任しました。当日は、300名を 超える学生が 聴講するなか、ブルガ リア共和国の 現況 や地球社会に 関する考えなど に つ いてご講演 いただ きま した。学生たちは、人と人とのつながりを持ち視野を 広げる大切さ、世界中が 直面する困難な課題へ立ち向かうリーダーシップの大切さを学びました。
また、この講演会と併せて、ラデフ大統領が 国際社会の 豊かな 発展に 寄与し、
本学の教育研究交流に多大な貢献をされたことを讃えて、東洋大学名誉博士 号を 授与しました。
On October 23, 2019, a special lecture was held at Hakusan Campus with his Excellency Mr. Rumen Radev, President of the Republic of Bulgaria, as the speaker. With an attendance of over 300 students, President Radev spoke about the current condition of the Republic of Bulgaria and his views on global society. The attending students learned from the lecture about the importance of building human relationships, broadening their perspectives, and having leadership in tackling difficult challenges faced by people around the world.
On the occasion of the lecture, Toyo University awarded President Radev an honorary doctorate in recognition of his immense contribution to the healthy development of the international community and the University’s educational and research exchange.

情報連携学部情報連携学科 中村光宏教授がデザインした「ワイヤレ スセンサー [tukumo]」が、2019年度グッドデザイン賞を受賞し ました。このワイヤレスセンサー [ tukumo] は、環境に配慮して 再生可能エネルギーを活用。太陽光・振動発電により無電源で 独立して動作し、温度・湿度管理や水位管理などに応用されてい ます。本来このような商品では加飾は必要としませんが、単なるコ アデバイス（センサー部品）レベルにとどまらず、生活者の 所有 欲・使用欲を満たす “分かりやすい 商品 ” としての価値感を付加 するため、本体にアルミニウムを採用。人 、植物、動物、人工物、
芸術など地球上のあらゆるものに寄り添う心地の良い美しいデザ インに設えています。
Wireless sensor [tukumo], designed by Professor Mitsuhiro Nakamura, Faculty of Information Networking for Innovation and Design, won the 2019 Good Design Award. The [tukumo] is an environmentally friendly wireless sensor that uses renewable energy. It can operate as a stand-alone unit without an external power source because of a built-in system that combines solar power generation and vibration-powered generation. Its applications include temperature and humidity management and water level management.
The aluminum material used for the body achieves added value to inspire consumers. The device provides a comfortable and beautiful design by being close to everything on earth, such as people, plants, animals, artifacts, and arts.

グローバル・イノベーション学研究センターは、世界各国のグローバリゼー ションとイノベーションの進展度を総合的かつ客観的に評価する指標を 独自に開発し、主要60カ国のランキングを2 019年11月28日に公表しま した。この指標は 国 毎にイノベーションの進展度を測るため、58の国際 比 較 指標を選定。それらを「国際調和」「市場動向」「技術革新」「人間力」
「関連政策」の 5 つに分類しました。
60カ国中 1位はシンガポールで、日本は32位にランクイン。政治・経済の 両面にわたり、国際化とサイバー技術の変革が進むなか、分析結果から各 国のイノベーションに向けた政策展開や企業の経営方針の策定への貢献が 期待されます。ランキングは今後も毎年作成し、公表していく予定です。
The Center for Global Innovation Studies independently developed an indicator that assesses each country’s progress level of globalization and innovation comprehensively and objectively. It announced the rankings of 60 major countries on November 28, 2019. Among the 60 countries, the top-ranked country is Singapore, while Japan is ranked 32nd. The analysis results are expected to contribute to the countries’ policy development toward innovation and companies’ formulation of management policies. The rankings will be determined and announced every year from now on.
理工学部建築学科 工藤和美教授による宮城 県の「東松島市立 宮 野 森 小 学校」（ シーラカンスK& H、盛 総 合 設 計 竣工日：2016年12月）が 2 019年 の日本建築学会作品選奨を受賞しました。宮野森小学校は、東日本大震災 で 津波被害を受けた 2 つの小学校を統合して新設した小学校です。「森の 学校」をコンセプトに、地元の木材を使用した全面的に木質感があふれる 明るい空間を実現。選奨にあたっては、「人 や自然との 距離をさりげなく 縮めて自然に包まれる安心感を提供しており、地域と学校が 一 体となって この地の復興のための教育の在り方を表現する重要な役割を担う」と期待 されています。
The architectural design of Higashi-Matsushima City’s Miyanomori Elementary School by a group led by Professor Kazumi Kudo, Faculty of Science and Engineering (Coelacanth K&H Architects Inc. and Sakari Sogo Plan; completed in December 2016) received the Architectural Institute of Japan (AIJ ) Architectural Design Commendation 2019. Miyanomori Elementary School was newly established by integrating two elementary schools that had been affected by the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake. The award-winning building features bright indoor space filled with a wooden atmosphere created by using locally produced lumber. The concept for the building is “a school in the forest.” The elementary school is expected to play an important role in representing the education that will lead toward the reconstruction of the region in cooperation with the local community.

2019年11月4日、白山キャンパスにて経済同友会インターンシップ成果 報告会を開催しました。経済同友会とは日本の「 経済 三 団体」の ひとつ に数 え ら れ る 企 業 経 営 者 団 体 で す。本 学 で は、2 019年 度 に 一 般 社 団 法人経済同友会インターンシップ推進協会と協定を締結し、学内選考を 経た学部 2 年生を対象に、経済同友会の加盟企業へ 概ね4週間のインター ンシップを実施しています。
2019年度は86名のエントリーの中から11名の学生がインターンシップに 参加し、日本の最先端をいく企業 で 学内だけでは得がたい貴重な経験を 積みました。報告会 では学生たちが 順番に成果を発表し、視野の広がり や 挑戦する意識が身についたと自身の成長を語りました。
On November 4, 2019, a Keizai Doyukai (Japan Association of Corporate Executives ) internship report meeting was held at Hakusan Campus. Keizai Doyukai is an association of corporate managers, counted among the “ three major business organizations” of Japan. Toyo University sends second-year undergraduate students selected through in-house screening to participate in four-week internships at Keizai Doyukai member companies.
In AY2019, 11 students selected from 86 entries participated in internships at leading Japanese companies and accumulated experience that they could not obtain on campus.
At the report meeting, the participating students presented their achievements in turn and spoke about their own self-development, with some saying that they were able to broaden their perspectives or become ready to take up difficult challenges.

Five members of the Toyo University Men’s and Women’s Soccer Clubs—four male players and one female player—signed contracts with professional soccer clubs, and will join them from the 2020 season. We are looking forward to their performances in the professional soccer arena.
2019年12月26日、関 東・関 西 両 リ ー グ の 優 勝 校 で 大学日本一を決める「第73回全日本大学ボクシング 王座決定戦」が墨田区総合体育館で開催され、本学 ボクシング部が 創部以来初の日本 一 の座をつかみま した。この決定戦は階級ごとによる全11試合 の団体 戦で行われ、選手全員がチーム 一丸となって持って いる力を発揮。大阪商業大学に11− 0の全階級制覇 という圧倒的な強さで勝利しました。関東リーグ戦 で初優勝した勢いそのままに大学王者となった本学 ボクシング部が、新時代を切り拓いていきます。
On December 26, 2019, the 73rd All-Japan University Boxing Championships were held to decide which of the top teams in the Kanto and Kansai Leagues would eclipse the others and top all university boxing clubs in Japan. The Toyo University Boxing Club won the Championships for the first time in its history and became the top university boxing club in Japan. In the Championships, 11 division-based matches were played in a team competition. All Toyo Boxing Club members united to demonstrate their abilities fully and overwhelmingly defeated Osaka University of Commerce in all matches ( by 11–0) in all divisions. The Boxing Club will step into the new age with an unstoppable momentum.
2 019年12月 29日、北海道 釧路市 日本製紙アイス アリー ナ で 開 催 さ れ た「第 92 回 日 本 学 生 氷 上 競 技 選 手 権 大 会（イ ン カ レ）」決 勝 戦 に お い て、アイス ス ケ ー ト部 ホッケー部門 が 法政 大学に6−3で 勝利 し、11年ぶり11回目の優勝を果たして大学日本 一に 輝きました。
チームは勝つために私生活から厳しく節制し、ハード な練習を積み重ね、春の関東大学選手権で10年ぶり の優勝。秋の関東リーグ戦では4位と優勝を逃すも、
今回のインカレで 優勝し今季 2 冠を達成しました。
選手権・リーグ戦で 優勝を重ねた「常勝東洋」復活の 第 一歩を歩み 始めました。
On December 29, 2019, the final match of the 92nd Japan Collegiate Skating and Ice Hockey Championships was held. The Hockey Division of the Toyo University Ice Skating Club defeated Hosei University by 6–3, achieving the first victory in 11 years.
The team won two championships this season, including the Kanto University Championships in spring, which the Toyo team won for the first time in 10 years. The team has begun to make steps toward the restoration of an “ invincible Toyo,” which achieved consecutive victories in championships and round-robin tournaments.
