[43] I have done that cross -hatching
[44] at forty five degrees. I'm doing this one [45] vertically
[46] quite fast, not caring too much about going over the lines.
[47,48] And this one, I'm going to change directions [49] and do it
[50] this way.
[52] And what this is doing for me [53] is just demonstrating some control [54,55] of the fingers
[56] and the wrist.
[57] Now, having done that, I'm gonna use those [58] -uh- squares and boxes.
[59] I want to pick [60] one letter
[61] from any -where on that page.
[62] And I'm gonna pick [63] that letter.
[64] There is "t" for "tactics".
[65] I'm gonna draw that letter in using my box as a guide -line.
[66] Some/so -um-
[67] because it's got a curved edge there [68] comes down
[69] cross [70] comes [71] down
[72] there's a loop on the end of that [73] and it comes around
[74,75] and I can fill that in either by cross -hatching [76] or with this broad pen. I can
[77] block that in quite quickly [78,79] to begin to shape [80] in
[81] that letter.
[82] And what this activity is doing for me [83] is [it co--] making me look at
[84] [the] shapes of letters
[85] and that's help -ful when we come to designing because the close observation of [86] small details is absolutely essential in designing.
[87] And if you can do that and fill several [88] boxes, then that's Activity 1
[89] completed.
