1.Introduction

1-1Sentan Navi Parent Guardian Portal

On the Sentan Navi Parent Guardian portal, by logging in using the user ID and password issued by KUAS, a parent or guardian (guarantor) will be able to view notices and event information posted by the Student Guardian Association as well as their child’s class schedule, etc.

1-2Important Points

Please note the following points when accessing the Parent Guardian Portal.

1.Recommended OS and Browser

1)OS: Windows8、Windows10、MacOSX (10.4and later)

2)Browser: Latest version of Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome

2.Things to note when using Parent Guardian Portal

1)To return to the previous page, press the “Back” button in the webpage. If you use your browser's “Back” button, "Your webpage has expired" will be displayed and you will have to reload (refresh) the page.

2)If you use a pop-up blocker, please temporarily disable it or allow pop-ups for the site.

3)After 30 minutes of inactivity, you will be automatically logged out. If this happens, you will need to start-over and log in again.

4)Please use caution when handling account information.

5)You will be unable to log in between 02:00 ~ 05:00 due to daily server maintenance

3.In the following cases, please use the Query form to request a password reissue for your Parent Guardian Portal account.

(See Q & A at the end of this document.)

*Passwords will only be reissued to parents, guardians or guarantors.

1)When your account has been locked due to multiple failed attempts to log-in due to typing errors, etc.

2)When your account information has been lost

2.Sentan Navi Parent Guardian Portal Setup

2-1 How to Login

①At the bottom of the KUAS Homepage, click 「学内専⽤ポータル」, which means “Portal for Internal Use Only”.

You can also access the log-in screen from the following URL or QR code.

② Please enter the "ID" & "Password" that you were sent to log in.

The form is case sensitive so please enter your log-in details carefully.

③Once you have logged in, the "Parent Guardian Portal Top Screen"

shown below will be displayed.

The portal screen displays information such as calendars, announcements from KUAS, and schedules, etc. You can select various functions from the menu at the top of the screen.

Notices: Important - Shows important notices, Deadline set: Shows notices with a set deadline, etc.

Display in daily basis: Displays the schedule for the current day.

Display in monthly: Displays the schedule for the month.

Registered classes: Displays the courses registered for that day.

Student timetable: Student timetables will be displayed.

Syllabus inquiry: You can see the contents of classes.

2-2Initial configuration (Please do this first)

①Be sure to perform the initial configuration first. Register your email by clicking "Set email address". This will be necessary if you have to have your password reissued.

It is possible to have important announcements and information from the university sent to your personal e-mail at the same time it is posted. To do this, register the e-mail address that you want to receive the information as follows.

※You can also check posted information by accessing the Parent Guardian Portal from your PC or mobile device.

① Click ‘setting’ in the upper right corner of the portal screen.

② Select the "Set email address" tab if it is not selected already and register your email address.

③ Enter the email address you want to use in the "email address" field and click "Add".

④ A "confirmation mail" will be sent to the address you have set.

Click "Save" to finish registering your e-mail address.

After that, future information will be sent to your e-mail.

※Please set at least one main email address that you can be contacted on and one optional email address.

※Emails sent by the system are automatically generated.

Please do not reply to them.

※ If you do not receive the "Confirmation mail" (see below) when you set your email address, your settings are not complete. You may have mistyped your address or you may need to change your device’s email reception settings.

Notes on registering mail addresses

Since PC/Internet email and mobile phone email are not fully compatible, those of you who are used to using mobile phone-to-mobile phone emails need to exercise caution regarding your "mobile phone email address"

settings. Even if there is no problem between mobile phones, there may be technical issues when communicating with computers. It is also extremely dangerous to be disconnected from "Sentan Navi" as you will miss important information and notices from the university.

Please make sure to carefully read the following three points:

Changing your settings to “Accept” emails from PCs

Most mobile phones default setting is to "Reject" emails from PCs (see previous page). Please change your settings to allow information from specific domains. @ kuas.ac.jp @ml.kuas.ac.jp

Unfortunately, this type of "reject setting" does not notify the PC send of the error so the sender thinks the message has arrived, but the mobile user and recipient knows nothing about it. Understandably, this is very inconvenient.

2-3 How to change your password Changing your Password

① Click ‘Common’ in the menu at the top left of the portal screen.

② The ‘Change Password’ screen will be displayed.

③ Enter your ‘Current password’ in the first box.

④ Enter your ‘New password’ in the second and third boxes.

⑤ Finally, click ‘Confirm’ to confirm the changes.

2-4 Theme and language settings

How to change the theme and language settings of the portal.

① Click "setting" in the upper right corner of the portal screen.

② This will open the individual setting screen.

③ Click ‘Set theme’ (テーマ設定) to display the theme settings.

Select what you want to change & click ‘Save’ to set the theme.

(a) When the "color theme" is changed, the specified color theme will be applied and a preview will be shown.

(b) When the "Font size" is changed, the specified font size will be applied and a preview will be shown.

(c) To change the language of the main menu and portal screen to English go to the bottom of the ‘Set Theme’ screen,

clicking the button next to where it has 英語で表示する (Display in English) then click 保存(Save), and ✔OK to confirm changes.

3-1 Display Notices

To display notices , select "Bulletin board" from the

“Common menu” or click the “Notice” icon in the "Information" box

The "Posting List" screen will be displayed.

Click the title of the notice that you would like to open.

(a) By clicking [Mark as “Unread”], the notice will be added to the list in the

"Unread" tab, and the [Mark as “Unread”] button will switch to [Mark as

“Read”]. Click [Mark as “Read”] to add a notice to the list in the “Already Read” tab and [Mark as “Read”] button will switch to [Mark as “Unread”].

(b) Click [Set Flag] to add a notice to the list in the “Marked” tab, and the [Set Flag] button will switch to [Remove Flag].

After you click the title, the contents of the notice will be displayed.

※ If a file is attached to the notice, you can download it from the "View attached files" tab at the bottom left of the notice contents.

(Attached files will not be attached to the email you register, so if there are attachments you will have to download them separately from Sentan Navi)

If there is an option to apply for something through the notice, there will be an [Application] button displayed at the bottom of the notice.

You can apply by clicking the [Application] button, and the

[Application] button will switch to [Cancellation]. However, if the number of applicants exceeds the capacity, you will not be able to apply.

3-2 Student timetable

Select [Student timetable] from the main menu.

This will show the student’s timetable. Click [PDF] or [EXCEL] in the upper right of the screen to download a copy of the data.

3-3Syllabus Inquiry

Select [Syllabus Inquiry] from the main menu to display the syllabus search page.

Set your search criteria, and then click [Search]. From the displayed search results, select the class you want to view more information about.

3-4 Assessment inquiry

Select Assessment Inquiry from the main menu.

On the assessment inquiry screen, you can see the student’s results by semester and by subject.

On the same screen under “Changes in GPA”, you can see the changes in a student’s GPA each semester.

Under “Summary of acquired credits”, you can view the number of credits earned, the number of credits required for graduation and the total number of credits currently being taken according to subject classification

4.Q & A

What should I do if…

Q.I cannot log in.

A.Please make sure you have entered your ID and password correctly.

When entering your ID and password, it is easy to make mistakes with upper/lower case letters, full-width Japanese characters, etc. Also, errors where numbers and letters are confused are common. For example, "the number 0" and "the letter o", or

"the number 1" and "the letter I or lower case letter L".

Q. The screen does not change when I click it

A. Pop-ups may be blocked. Please set your browser to enable pop-ups.

Q.I want to issue a temporary password from the log-in screen (If you have forgotten your password)

A. You can issue a temporary password by clicking the link (If you have forgot your password, click here) under the LOGIN button on the Sentan Navi login screen. (See image)

Q. I have forgotten/lost my ID.

A.We will reissue your account, so please contact us by using the online form found at the bottom of the Sentan Navi login screen.

*Passwords will only be reissued to parents, guardians or guarantors.
