【Year 1】今月の歌 One, Two, Three, Four, Five
1 年生は秋の訪れを感じながら、様々な形の葉っぱについての やり取りを楽しんでいます。啓明には大きい葉っぱ、小さい葉っぱ、
丸い葉っぱ、トゲトゲした葉っぱなどたくさんの葉っぱがあります。
先週の授業では校舎の前や北泉寮の周辺まで葉っぱ集めに出か けました。子ども達は「Big!」「Long!」と自分達が見つけた葉っぱに ついてうれしそうに教えてくれました。
【Year 3】今月の歌 Jack and Jill
３年生は教科の学習をしました。自分の時間割と他学年の時間 割を見たり、３時間授業の｢得意伸ばそう初等学校｣や｢苦手克服初 等学校｣に行ったら自分の時間割がどうなるか考えたりしました。
今は楽器の語彙を学習中です。音当てクイズをしたりしながら耳を 使って語彙に触れています。
【Year 4】 今月の歌 Hey Diddle Diddle
4 年生は、can/ can’t の学習を行いました。自分ができる・
できないだけでなく、3 人称も学びました。She can play table tennis. She can play the piano. She can’t play basketaball.
どの先生のことを言っているでしょう？（野川先生）と先生ク イズもしました。最終的には自分のプロフィールカードを作り ました。

【Year 5】 今月の歌 She Waded in the Water
5 年生は、this/ that/ these/ those の学習をしました。場所と 個数を表す言葉ですが、なかなか使い分けるのが難しいです。場 面設定を通して、どんな時にそれぞれの言葉が使われているの か、耳で音を聞いてから、口で発します。その後文字になったもの を見て、書く練習をしていきました。
【Year 6】今月の歌 Once an Austrian Went Yodeling 6 年生は「～しています」という現在進行形の学習を行いま した。人物のズーム写真を見て何をしているかを考える活動 では、「自撮りをしている」「財布を見ている」など、想像力豊 かに英語で表現することができました。書く力も着実に伸びて いて、今まではなぞり書きや写し書きが中心でしたが、今回は
「～しています」の文を考えて、自力で書くことにもチャレンジ しました。
【Year 2】今月の歌 Humpty Dumpty
先日はお忙しい中授業参観にお越しいただき、ありがとう ございました。授業参観では“What’s this?”の授業をご覧い ただきました。はじめのうちは、子ども達は日本語で答えます が、大切なのは「これ何だろう？」「〇〇だ！」という心の動 きです。心の動きに対して、“What’s this?” “It’s a 〇〇.”とた っぷり聞かせてあげることで、子ども達は意味と音声を結び つけていきます。そして次第に言える部分から英語で言うよ うになります。はじめから無理に言わせようとせずに、子ども の言葉の学びを焦らず見守ることを大切にしています。

【アフタースクール英語】 1１月のアフタースクール予定

【国際英語】11/6, 13, 20, 27 アフタースクールで今年も Tie dye を 行い、それぞれバンダナの色染めを しました。恐る恐る色をつけている子 もいれば、経験者の子達は、今年はこんな デザインにしようと積極的に取り組んで いました。どんな模様ができたかな？
【Teddy Bear Project 発表】
先日礼拝後にﾃﾃﾞｨｰﾍﾞｱﾌﾟﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄの発表を行いました。ﾃﾃﾞｨｰﾍﾞｱﾌﾟ ﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄとはぬいぐるみを他の国の小学校と交換し、交換留学をさ せるプロジェクトです。順番に子ども達の家にホームステイをし、
過ごした時間を日記にまとめてきます。子ども達は堂々とステー ジの上で英語と日本語で発表しました。
【Year 1】Year 1 students did words that rhyme, chose 2 or 3 words from each group, and made “Silly Sentences”. Their completed work are on display at the department, please stop by and try to guess which sentence is represented in the picture.
【Library Books】We l ve that students are checking out and reading books. Students are always welcome to check out a book or two. We do ask that those books come back to school.
If your son or daughter has any of our books at home they are not reading, please return them. Students will no longer be able to check out more than 5 books at a time. If a novel study is assigned, this will not count towards their book limit.

【Year 2】Year 2 students completed their “Question Sentences”
Each wrote 6 questions for a teacher to answer. We are still awaiting some answers. However, these questions are now on display at the English department. Next we will write letters to thank those teachers for writing back to us.
【Year 4】Students continue with their studies of insects. This month we inspected real insects: mostly dead and dried out insects like beetles, butterflies, moths, flies etc. We also got a live praying mantis to add to the fun. The students studied words to describe these insects: colorful, feathery, spiky, and scary to mention a few. They are now taking notes on one insect. They are learning about the description, diet, and habitat of their chosen insect.
【Year 3】
Students studied how to write good questions using the
“Wh” words. Part of their practice included writing questions that only the amazing record holders in the Guinness World Record Books could answer. They finished the topic by writing questions for Keimei senior high students. On October 17th we went to the Sr. High to interview a student during lunch. What an experience that was!
【Year 5】
There was a lot to discuss about the environment such as global warming, carbon footprint, and the 3 R’s. Now the students are working in groups to create a poster about one environmental factor. They must write, proofread, and decorate the poster on their own.
【Year 6】
In the recent classes, the students have been working in small groups to create a talk show. Their show’s topics are “Bicultural” “Using Two Languages” or “Japan vs. Other Schools.” They are the host and guests and had to create their script on their own.
【Moby Max】
November 29th due date: Year 1- 110 minutes,
Year 2 thru 6-220 minutes. A handful of students are already done! Wow, keep on working if you can.
【International Club】We have been having fun, as always. One day we played Bingo and had to read the word and find the correct picture. Most recently we all put rubber bands onto bandanas. Year 2 and 3 got to dye theirs already. Year 1 will dye theirs at the next club meeting.
【Culture Corner】Students continue to have exciting times at Culture Corner. This month we watched
“Doraemon” YouTube videos in English. The students had a good time watching their favorite Daraemon in a language different from Japanese. “Touch and Say” and “7 Steps”
were among some of the other activities the students enjoyed this month.
