The purpose of the research is to investigate whether simultaneous interpreting (SI) performed by interpreters with different training and professional experience results in different perceptions of its quality. To achieve this objective, an experiment was conducted to measure the students' perception of the quality of simultaneous interpretation from English to Russian by three interpreters who varied in educational level and professional experience. Participants were randomly divided into three groups to listen to the following versions of SI:.

Overall, data analysis showed that education and work experience were positively related to positive perceptions of interpreting quality. In addition, it was shown that the respondents of group C had a more favorable perception of the quality of interpretation than the respondents of groups A and B. In other words, the perceptions of the quality of SI performed by an interpreter without a proper qualification, but with extensive work experience, were the most positive.

This suggests that work experience may have a greater positive effect on quality perceptions, and this is probably not surprising as work experience involves the development and improvement of translation skills in a real-world context. These also suggest that an interpreter's training and work experience on various criteria have particular value in the process of quality perception.

Introduction

In this framework, listeners' quality perception of SI will be investigated to narrow the scope of the study. The common situation among potential translators/interpreters is that information about language skills. How do the perceptions of the quality of simultaneous interpretation performed by interpreters with different education and professional experience differ.

The research will offer a new perspective on the problem of quality perception in SI by explaining the influence of the factors of education and work experience of the interpreter. In this way, it will spread awareness among listeners about the perception of quality with these factors and additionally contribute to the understanding of the issue. Third, the results of the research can be implied as an additional resource to existing teaching materials.

Literature review

It corresponds to the perception of the quality of the performance, where the audience also has expectations regarding the finished product of the performance. Most of the criteria and standards for determining the quality are intended for the written type of translation, since the evaluation and perception of the interpretation is a very difficult task and its solution will be. The problem of quality in TS has existed since the birth of the profession.

The essence of this theory is that in both oral and written translation, special attention must be paid to the purpose and function of the original text and the text translation (Reiss & Vermeer, 2014). In the early 1990s, new approaches to quality emerged, based on the principles of functionalism (Pöchhacker, 1995). In accordance with these approaches, the translation is assessed directly by the recipient based on the pre-specified criteria that the translation of the text must meet.

Education quality is one of the basic factors to educate professionally qualified students (Yavuz & Gülmez, 2016). Most authors argue that the professional knowledge acquired within the walls of the university helps specialists to be competitive in their specialty (Kalina, 2005; Peng, 2006). The work experience is one of the fundamental bases for the profession of the interpreter.

As Pearl (1999) claims, “training and education are only half or five-eighths of the bottle. However, creating a single concept of assessment and perception criteria is not yet possible. It is meant as the finished version of the performance which is perceived by the users/listeners.

Thirdly, the main focus of the research is quality perception and the most important factor studies on the theme of education and work.

Methodology

A null hypothesis (H0): There is no difference in the perceptions of SI quality performed by translators with and without a relevant background. H1: Perceptions of the quality of IS performed by a qualified and experienced translator will be the most positive. H3: Perceptions of the quality of IS performed by an interpreter with relevant qualifications but no work experience will be less positive than the interpretation of a specialist who has both professional education and work experience.

According to the number of responses received, participants in the 4th year of the translation studies program dominate. The Speech Repository Platform is one of the tools used to train interpreting skills (Annalisa, 2015). In this regard, the site is considered one of the useful and common platforms for training and practicing remote interpreting skills.

In terms of this, the audience, having basic knowledge, can assume the accuracy of the interpretation given. It consists of 23 items/questions and is dedicated to finding out participants' perception of the quality of the recorded SI. According to their work, Likert scales can be applied to investigate the perception of the population (as an example, research was taken on the perception of the benefits of translator certification).

Participants could watch the video of the source language on the screen and the audio interpretation was attached to the video. In the research, the independent variables are the interpreter's level of education and work experience, while the dependent variable is perception of quality. In order to maintain the consistency of the investigation, measures will be taken and strict adherence to the procedure.

The study was officially started after receiving an approval from the Research and Ethics Committee of KAZGUU School of Liberal Arts.

Results

Respondents of experimental group C presented high ratings for all 17 items, then the other two groups. For experimental group A and control group B, the mean ratings of the 17 items ranged from a maximum of 4.00 and a minimum of 3.00. Items 15 and 16 showed a sharp increase in experimental group C, which identified translator C may be more professional due to significant years of expertise.

Participants emphasized the importance of the voice in interpreting, believing that the tone of the voice clearly reflects the emotional color and state of the interpreter. An explicit expression of the interpreter's emotional state was conveyed to the interpreter, which was then noticed by the majority of participants in the comments below. Moreover, the friendly attitude of the interpreter ensures a positive experience for most participants in group A.

According to the presented interpretation, most participants believed that the interpreter used a generalization, a lexical transformation, more often. As the participant indicated, the interpreter tries or attempts to convey the original language, but this leads to ambiguity and illegibility of the information provided. Thus, ideas and sentences in the interpretation are complete and complete according to the perception of the respondents.

One of the participants emphasizes that the interpreter made an average impression, that is, it can be assumed that the interpreted speech was perceived as an ordinary conversation. Synthesizing the available information (comments), the comments given suggested that a friendly and pleasant voice of the interpreter creates a favorable and positive attitude. The comments on the target language transmission message were not as positive in groups A and B.

Half of the participants believed that the interpreters interpreted in such a way that they did not convey the entire source language.

Discussion and conclusion

This can indirectly lead to the confirmation of the fact that an interpreter made by a specialist in another industry, but with significant work experience in the field of simultaneous interpreting, is perceived as more favorable. In the qualitative part of the study, participants were asked to meet the main criteria or to rate the importance of criteria in the perception of quality that is essential in providing the interpretation according to their opinion. In the current study, this section is an additional part of the second research question.

Factors can influence the understanding of the fundamental principles of study and the process of acquiring and strengthening skills and competences. The results showed that there are differences between the perceptions of the three translations, ruling out the null hypothesis. Each of the three interpretations was accepted by the participants with a different degree of attitude.

Overall, participants were aware of the voice and flow of the interpreter's information (delivery). The work investigates the investigated problem from the listeners' perception of quality. One of the limitations encountered in the research study was the small number of participants.

Since the data analysis was based on the mean and median, in order to determine which of the mentioned factors has a greater influence on the positive perception of the interpretation, a correlation analysis should be performed in the future. The purpose of the research is to measure students' perception of the quality of simultaneous interpreting from English into Russian by interpreters with different educations and work experience. The final questions of the questionnaire are open-ended and designed to capture your thoughts and views.

There are no direct benefits for the participants, but the results of the research may be useful in the future training of interpreters and All material collected during the process will be used for the purpose of the research. Then, using a five-point Likert scale (1-strongly disagree; 2-disagree; 3-neutral; 4- agree; 5-strongly agree) define the importance of the following items below in the interpreted result.
