CHAPTER 7 CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION 76

7.2 Recommendation

Apart from the implemented features, there are some useful and attractive features that can be added to improve this application. In addition to measuring real-world room dimensions and creating floor plans, door and window creation can be added to allow users to create a more complete floor plan. With this feature, users can scan doors and windows for position and size after creating a floor plan and add to 2D floor plans and 3D rooms. Besides, the application could also be improved by allowing users to combine floor plans of multiple rooms to create a floor plan of the entire house. Rather than only allows users to create floor plans for one room at a time.

Furthermore, not only inserted furniture on the floor, this application can be improved to allow users to place wall attachable furniture, such as wall lamp and ceiling fan, and even try out wall paint in AR view. Lighting and shadowing in the application also could be improved to make furniture models look more realistic. Finally, this application can further develop the function of cooperation with furniture stores or other interior design related companies, such as providing an online store platform with AR, 2D and 3D design capabilities to view the furniture.
