According to Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri Malaysia (2011), chronic or serious diseases consist of the following:

iii. Pulmonary hypertension.

iv. Chronic kidney disease.

v. Chronic liver disease.

vi. Fulminant viral hepatitis.

vii. Injury to the brain due to an accident.

viii. Tumors and vascular defects in the brain.

ix. Blisters and burns due to fire.

x. Main organ transplant.

xi. Parkinson disease.

xii. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (aids).

xiii. Leg and/or hand transplant.

xiv. Chronic skin disease: psoriasis, pemphigus, and Steven-Johnson syndrome.

xv. Mental illness: bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, and major depression.

xvi. Endocrine disease: diabetes mellitus with complications.
