About the Speakers
YBhg. Prof. Dr. Mohd. Alauddin Mohd. Ali
Mohd. Alauddin Mohd. Ali was born in Perak, Malaysia in 1955. He received the B.Eng. (Electrical), B.Sc. (Mathematics) and M.Eng.Sc. (Electrical) degrees from the University of Tasmania, Australia in 1978, 1979 and 1984 respectively, and the PhD degree from the University of Nottingham, England in 1994. He is currently the director of Institute of Space Science (ANGKASA) and a professor in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Systems Engineering, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). His current research interests include biomedical signal processing, instrumentation, IC design and testability.
YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Al-Masrie
Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Al-Masrie was born on July 27, 1972. He is a medical doctor and also Principal Research Fellow of Institute of Space Science (ANGKASA), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He was the first Malaysian to go into space, launched to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard Soyuz TMA-11 with the Expedition 16 crew on October 10, 2007. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Al-Masrie flew under an agreement with Russia through the Angkasawan Program, and returned to Earth on October 21, 2007, aboard Soyuz TMA-10 with the Expedition 15 crew members, Fyodor Yurchikhin and Oleg Kotov.
