Parents, teachers, educationists, psychologists and all those interested in supporting the needs and developing the potential of the gifted child.
Most children develop in very much the same way, but for gifted children there are some distinct differences. For one thing, gifted children tend to reach developmental milestones early. For another, while other children develop physically, emotionally, and cognitively at approximately the same pace, the gifted child's development is uneven or asynchronous.
How can you tell if a child is gifted? There are two main ways: observing characteristics and behaviors, and testing. It has been a dilemma of sorts for parents and teachers to identify giftedness in children.
Parents, teachers and the gifted children themselves all need to understand giftedness so that the children will be able to grow to their fullest potential.
This inaugural two-day conference is jointly hosted by Association for Gifted Children, Malaysia (NAGCM), and Yayasan Pelajaran MARA (YPM), and is managed by Talent Enhancement Academy (TEA), UKM Holdings. The objectives of this conference are:
1. To create a platform for international and local experts to share their understanding of gifted children.
2. As an avenue for anyone and everyone concerned with giftedness to learn and understand more about it.

THE KEYNOTE ADDRESS Understanding Gifted Children: Facts and Myths
Our immensely experienced speaker Carolyn K. will address the common myths surrounding gifted children and present the concrete facts that provide the basis for a genuine understanding of such children. And more...
THE KEYNOTE WORKSHOP Testing and Assessment of Gifted Children: What Does It Mean?
We talk about testing gifted children, but what do we really mean? Achievement testing or intelligence testing? Individual or group testing? Standardized tests, or curriculum based assessment? What scores are reported, and what do they mean: standard scores, percentiles, grade-equivalents? Nationally normed, or criterion-referenced? Does it matter? YES! Learn what the tests are (and aren't), how they compare to each other, and how their results apply to the day-to-day reality of the classroom; about the latest IQ test versions, WISC-IV, WPPSI-III and Stanford-Binet 5, and what these new versions mean for gifted children. And more...
