For the successful completion of this last annual project, I first and foremost express my deepest gratitude to Allah S.W.T. In addition, the success of this project is largely dependent on the encouragement and direction of many others. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the other final year students who have been developing a native mobile application specifically for Android for their willingness to share their ideas and suggestions during the completion of this project.

From this, different perspectives and views about it were being discussed together for the betterment and improvement of this project. Saedah Binti Mohd Said who have continuously supported me both mentally and psychologically during the development of the First Aid Application and the completion of this dissertation. In this paper study, the author presents a first aid android application that is given to any person suffering from a sudden illness and injury in an emergency.

This app provides simple step by step instructions to guide the user through the everyday first aid scenario. There are many situations that require first aid app and it can be used by untrained people.

First aid can be defined as emergency care or treatment to any person suffering a sudden illness or injury. First aid is an important thing to give instructions to the user to relieve the pain, to maintain life, to promote recovery and to prevent patient's condition from being worst until professional medical help can be obtained. First aid is the emergency care given to a victim of injury or sudden illness before professional medical help arrives.

Everyone should know how to handle first aid because it is one of the most valuable skills we can ever have. But these are just the very basic first aid techniques that everyone knows how to do. To develop an application that provides the user with knowledge of first aid by using this application.

To test the user's knowledge of first aid by providing a test for a specific situation in the application. In this particular project, the project focused mainly on first aid instructions, which include diagnosis, treatment and disposal.

The skill and knowledge of first aid is the valuable thing that people do not have. Today, the lack of first aid knowledge and skills has a negative impact on society. In the United Kingdom, research by St John Ambulance has shown that around 150,000 people a year could save their lives in situations if more people knew the knowledge and skills of first aid ("Dramatic numbers dying from lack of first aid", 2010).

It shows that thousands of people die, but first aid can make the difference between life and death. According to Luke (2012), lack of first aid knowledge and skills in the population kills more people than cancer in the Midlands. First aid can be dramatically different in many circumstances that include sudden injury and illness.

It shows the good country like United Kingdom also lacks first aid knowledge and what about our country, Malaysia. This is the reason why we need first aid knowledge like first aid mobile apps to help us. Then the remaining 52% percent do not know where the first aid kit is located in the workplace.

In addition, it revealed that 43% of employees had never been trained in first aid. This shows that they were not provided with first aid training at the workplace and the workers also did not take care of first aid. However, due to expert opinion and the symptoms resulting from a heart attack, it is a necessary part of first aid for chest pain.

Parents and caregivers in the nursery should know and learn about first aid for choking. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) also needs to be learned by many people because it can be basic first aid for many injuries and illnesses. First aid for choking in conscious adult, determine if the person can cough or talk.

In this project, there are few processes that are considered to be used to make the assignment comprehensively and effectively implemented. In order to gather the user expectations as well as views on the idea of the application, a quantitative research was conducted. Vishweshwar, my supervisor final year project and he gives many contributions about the idea of this project.

This can be used as a reference for future projects that may be related to this project. There are several methodologies used by the author for project evaluation. Planning is an early stage of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and it is an important stage that will provide the direction of the project.

Then we drew the outlines of the activities as part of the development life cycle in a Gantt chart (see table). The author conducted research on the topic to understand the concept of the proposed application, which continued to evolve. Then the author also conducted research to identify the target user and the main features.

The analysis culminated in the preparation of the initial system requirements that will be used to build the application. In the design phase, it refers to the unique circumstance method or mobile application development. It tells the author how this project will go and gives the big picture.

To require minimal user input, the app's architecture design was derived and to improve from several consulted literature materials, therefore the interface was designed. As a result of the test, the author must make a complete application of the prototype before launching it. The content must be updated every time and the author must evaluate the user feedback either positive or negative.

The next question is to know what type of operating system in the respondent's smartphone. The result shows as the figure above, most of the respondents have social networking applications which is 93.8% of the respondents. This is because the quality and quantity of the available application influences the user to use which type of mobile application.

We can see from above 45.3% answered 'I will try to do first aid even if I am not sure what to do' can do the wrong procedure and worsen the condition of the patient. The survey shows that respondent's first aid skills and knowledge are below average because the majority of the respondents answered below scale 5. It can be concluded that even though most of the respondents do not have or use medical applications and the reason for that could be the existing applications. not much appealing to them.

The next test is for the user to answer a quiz that is provided, the purpose of which is to test the user's knowledge for a given situation. The image above shows a screenshot of the emergency page and the user has to select what type of emergency happens to him. The user has to click on the nearest location that appears in the application, select the type of transport and start navigation.

This study aimed to identify the level of acceptance of the prototype as well as to evaluate the user's perception of the application. The popularity and functionality of the Android application makes it the pinnacle of the smartphone operating system among the respondents. It shows that majority of the respondents are using Android OS than other OS especially Apple iOS.

Once Apple iOS was the leader of the operating system for the smartphone until Android has been developed by Google. According to the survey, most of the respondents lacked knowledge and skills in first aid. From one of the questions in the survey, we can see that the majority of respondents do not have sufficient knowledge and confidence to save a life.

Moreover, most of the respondents do not have medical application in their smartphone which may not offer many medical application in the market. The result shows that the development of first aid Android application can give a positive impact on the population as most of the people do not have knowledge about first aid.
