PILOT PROJECT ON THE URBAN POOR COMMUNITY FEEDING PROGRAM AT PROJEK PERUMAHAN RAKYAT (PPR) SIMPANG PERDANA, TAIPING, PERAK

INTRODUCTION
The Community Feeding Program was started at the end of 2009 in Orang Asli settlement at Hulu Perak due to an Acute Gastroenteritis (AGE) outbreak that occurred in several Orang Asli villages in Pos Kemar, Hulu Perak District that cause dead among Orang Asli Children aged below 6 years. The program was originally conducted in rural areas with high cases of malnourished children (KZM) among Orang Asli children. The Community Feeding Program (PCF) is implemented through supplementary feeding activities and Ready To Eat Therapeutic Food (RUTF). In 2021, the program was expanded to the urban poor community. This intervention aims to reduce the problem of malnutrition among children through the provision of food supplements as a guarantee of the availability of nutritious food. This program has been proposed in the 12th Malaysia Plan and MoH's New Deals and National Subsistence Action Plan (2021-2030). PPR Simpang Perdana Taiping in LMS District was selected as pilot project for urban poor PCF for the state of Perak. The program was then started officially in December 2021 which involves the local community as volunteer to manage and run the program.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the program are to improve the nutritional status of children aged one year to six years from urban poor families suffering from malnutrition to normal
METHODOLOGY
The target groups of the program were all poor urban children aged 1 to 6 years old who are normal dan malnutrition. They were eligible for Supplementary Feeding on Monday to Friday except for public holiday at Dewan PPR Simpang Perdana handled by community volunteers
RESULTS
This program has successfully improved the nutritional status among children’s in PPR Simpang Perdana Taiping.
CONCLUSION
For the conclusion, this program have been improved nutritionl status of the children also improvement cooperation and empowerment the community.
