ABSTARCT

Nowadays, many people are buying theirstufftrough online platform. However,the parcel delivery processallows parcels to be left inthe parcel drop box, which is thetemporary place to place our parcel afterthe delivery be done. Thecurrent parcel drop box maybecan handle a simple task, which is being a temporary place forourbelongingsor parcel butnot in a term of security of our parcel. The main objectiveofthis project is to design and fabricate ofsliding platform componentof smart parceldrop box and to evaluatetheperformance and functionof sliding platform component of smartparcel drop box. Theexpected result of this project is the slidingplatform slide insideand outside from the main body automatically when someone want to putinto ortake awaythe parcel from the parcel drop box. This sliding platformalsocan hold parcelwith 280mmx280mmx250mmdimension and15 kg weight. The mainsignificanceof this project is to introduce theconcept of contactless delivery between the receiver and delivery man andto be theguidelinefor a new technology and concept forcourierindustries in creating parcel drop box in thefuture.

CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND OF STUDY

Online shopping has become the very important and necessary things in our daily life to accomplish orfull fill our neededespecially in this pandemicera. The item that we buythrough online shopping basically willbe post bythe seller through the courier provided by many companies in Malaysia such asPos Laju,J&T, NinjaVanand others. Theirserviceprovided is really being our concerned and main priority in order to make sure our parcel arrive in a goodcondition.

These company basically giving us guarantee of our parcel'ssafety. But what happening after our parcel be sent is not their concerned anymore after we confirming it by punching the ‘order receive'button through the online application. Some of our item might a fragile item, foods or something valuablethattheir safety is our concerned.The courier company cannot take care of our parcel every time as they also have many customers' parcel to be delivered. So, it be our responsibility in making sure our parcel safe right after thedeliveryhasbeendone.That why many houses nowadays have been provided with parcel drop box. Butbasicdrop box only donea simple tasklikeatemporary medium forthe parcel before itbe taken by us.

We also maybe not at home on the day that our parcel being delivered causing courierhad to leave out parcel in drop box. Even though many houses have provided with parcel drop box, it still notguaranteesusthe safety ofourbelovedparcel from dangerous things such as stay, bad weather, thief and else. So, our current drop box needs to beupgraded in term of its features in order to give more protection ofour parcel.

For sure, typical drop box at home is notgivingthe best using experiencethatwe desired for.In some case, the userwill get struggle in using it. For example, when a post man wantsto put the large or heavyparcel intoour parcel drop box. This situationmight causedamage to our belovedor

1.2 PROBLEMSSTATEMENT

Nowadays in Malaysia, the delivery manneeds to deliver the parcel to their customer's face to face to accomplish the delivery policy. The problems occurred when the customer receives the parcel from thedelivery man, the physical contact or interaction through the parcel between delivery man and customer may spread the infection of covid-19 although facemask has been worn atthat time. The possibility of the infection of the covid-19 is reallybeing customer's concerned. So, by doing some upgrade ofsmart parcel dropbox, the possibility oftheinfection ofcovid-19 may be reduced.

1.3 OBJECTIVE

Themain objectives ofthis project are;

1. To design and fabricate the sliding platform componentof smart parcel drop box.

2. Tostudy onthe components needed to run the sliding platform of smart parcel dropbox

1.4 SCOPE OF WORK

In order to makesure thisfinalyearprojecthappened, there are some works thathavebeen done to complete theproject. The scope is;

a) Develop 3D design of sliding platform using Solidworks 2020.

b) Analysis used solidworks simulation under Finite ElementAnalysis(FEA)

c) One parcel with 280mm x 280mm x 250mm and maximum weightof 15kg atonetime.

d) Motor used is DCmotorwith 12v 6rpmpowerfor sanitizeplatform.

e) Heavy duty (250 kg) fully locking container slides grade 304 stainless steel-CONBLX type used.

f) Usedgearracks conceptin gear chain andsprocket
