ABSTRACT

This study investigated how to design and provide solutions for any daily issue using the mechanical engineering design process. Many people who are

troubled physically with issues like not having enough space in their rooms to

store their food or other items, so people buy shelves or racks to solve their

problems, such as not having enough room in their rooms to keep their food or

other belongings. The objective for this project is to help student who lives in

1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Backgroundof Study

Many people face problem likenot have enough space to puttheir food or items in theirroom and they bought a shelves/rack tosolvethisproblem.Thisfood rack also referred asbaker's rack because this versatile storage furniture originally usedby bakers The shelves are made of a conductive material, often steelor iron, which served to help cool a baker's goods such as hotpies, breads, and pastries.Non-bakers have beenusing baker's racks forstorage, kitchen use, houseplants, and decor. Some peopleuseit to store non-bakedfood products suchas fruits, canned goods, coffee, or liquor while others useit to display books, game boards, or picture frames. 1.2 Problemstatement

People face all kindof troubles whentheydon'thaveenoughspacelikethe place will be lookslike a store.Thecost to buy a new shelves willbe costly, the cheapest one thatIfound cost about RM50 and someofthem can reach aboutRM200.Furthermore,someof them take alotof space because it size.

1.3Objective

There are two objectivesfor this project:

i) To designafoodrack ii) To fabricate a food rack

1.4 Scope of work

The scope for this projectis to help students and housewives who have problem ith managing theirbelongingin a small space roomwithlowcostdesign.

1.5 Significant of Study

The significant of study for this project is we can save more space and can easily managing our belongings. We can findour items easily.

2.0 LITERATURE REVIEW

2.1. Food rack and Description

A food rack, also known as a baker's rack, is a pieceoffurniture with shelvesconstructed of wroughtironor another metal. Baker's racks have been afixtureof many houses throughout theworldsincethe 17th century. A conductive substance, such as steeloriron,is used to constructthe shelves. Metal's conductivity and thermal bulk allow heat to betransported quickly from the pan to the shelf and retained for a long period. The construction of baker's racks has altered as they have been utilised for various purposes. Some baker's racks now incorporatecupboards, drawers, and other storage capabilities, in addition to plain shelves.

Baker's racks have also become more ornamental and may now be used ashighlight items in the home. This is whytheir designs have also evolved. (Collection, 2018)

2.2. Things That You Can Do with Food Rack.

Bakeryracks are anintegral part of kitchen equipment, whichhelpsto do thejob efficiently and swiftly. Atypicalbakeryrackis a rectangular prism with cross members and sides. The traditional rack, alsoknown as aprism, is a framework createdtoholdthebaking sheet pan and its contents oftenmorethanonepan. Additionallytothe pans, this framework needs to beable to attachwheels orany otherchoice inorder tofulfil its function. (Specialties, 2020)

Because of the evolution of the baker.srackfor many century,it has many function based on their design. It canbeusedforthe baker to cool their's good such as hot pies, breads and pastries.

It also can be designto be usedfor storage, kitchen use and decor. Some people use itto store non baked food such as fruits, cannedgoods, coffee oruse it to display books.

This rack can also be agood decorationbecause of the design thathave in evolved. (JSTOR, 2018)
