CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 ResearchBackground
Nowadays
simple
mechanical devices, such ashand trolleys with single and
dual wheels,arefindingwidespreadusage in a
varietyofbusinessesand
households. However, its useis confined to transporting
products fromone position to another across
thefloors. There
areno established designs
onthemarket thatmeet
thedemandforassistance in moving
theload oversteps.To
overcomethis
challenge, stair wheelswith
threewheels
areutilised as an
alternative,reducing
theeffortoflifting.
Thecurrent work

transfer significantweightsupstairs with
theenhanced
wheelarrangementwhile requiring
significantly lesshuman
labourand
manufacturing expense. The design considerations areexplored,
including the steepnessofthesteps,
thestabilityand speed
ofthe trolleywhilemounting
thestairs.
Hybrid trolleys, suchas tri-wheeled trolleys, can
be usedto transport
severalthings
in placeswhere mechanical
elevatorscannotbeconstructed[1].
A
trolleyis a small
transport device usedtomove heavy
loadsfrom
onelocation to another [2]. Hand trolleys
arecommonlyusedin
mostindustries
totransport completed objects
orrawmaterials. There are varioustypes
oftrolleys,
and the type used is commonlychosen based on
thetypeof material itwill move [3].

conductedtoredesignsuch processes to make
themmore
efficientandaffordable.A
few devicesare
availabletocarry heavy objects
onthe stairsduring typical working
activities. However, whilemovingonto
thestairs,these
devicesfrequently
slide.[7].
In many nations, development
leadsin
structurally congestedstructures in
rural locationswhere access to elevators is problematic.
Stairclimbing trolleys

humaneffort.
People areintendedto
carryheavy things more than 150
kg,such
asrefrigerators,washingmachines, cabinets,water cans, books,
tinycontainers, food
grains,and
poisonousmaterials, from
the groundfloor to
thetopfloorand opposite
[1].The
main objective here is to design and
buildamulti-purpose trolley that can
move around the floorand
climb thestairs.
Earlierdesigns could only move

asingle

oneachside.
Themodelling is done

consists of two sets of threewheels
connected toa frame at
the bottom of the trolley that functionsas
asingle unit. Handles

the frameand to use
