PLACES AND PARTNERSHIPS ESTABLISHED

ITDI - FEATI - NU - FEIP: This partnership with the Finite Element Institute of the Philippines (FEIP), National University (NU) and FEATI University aims to promote the use of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), which will benefit the students, engineers will benefit scientists and researchers in academia, research institutions and industry. ITDI - CSU: The DOST-ITDI - Cagayan State University (CSU) will handle the transfer of the abaca fiber composite. This MOA grants CSU the license to adopt, use, create, manufacture and/or pre-commercialize the technology for the production of abaca fiber composites, especially in the manufacture of the body/hood of its e-trike .

DOST-ITDI will assist CSU in establishing the manufacturing facility, train its personnel and provide necessary assistance during the technology transfer activity.

TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER AND KNOWLEDGE TRANSLATION

QUAD MEDIA PROMOTION

The use of social media or digital platform has continuously improved DOST-ITDI's online presence and has steadily contributed to increased engagements with various stakeholders; showing significant growth against targets. This pandemic, in particular, has enabled the institute to continue to deliver its mandate and serve its public, especially MSMEs. With limitations on face-to-face transactions, the institute capitalized on live streams, virtual tours, webinars and online technology videos.

PAPERS PUBLISHED AND PRESENTED

PUBLICATIONS

From the thermal analysis, there was no change in the glass transition of the polymer and no improvement in the thermal stability of the nanocomposites. The mechanical properties of PBz are greatly improved by thermally induced ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of the oxazine ring. The study aims to determine the effect of different particle sizes and raster angle at a given fiber concentration that can affect the mechanical properties of the composite by developing a printable composite filament made of Polylactic Acid.

The study concludes that the mechanical properties of the PLA-Coco Coir composite improve with a certain particle size and raster angle in 3D printing.

The Standards and Testing Division successfully completed its 3-day remote assessment for PNS ISO/IEC laboratory accreditations for chemical, microbiological and mechanical testing on 12-14 October 2021 conducted by the assessment team of the Philippine Accreditation Bureau of the Department of Trade and Industry (PAB-DTI). Remote assessment by the Standards and Testing Division on 12-14 October 2021 for PNS ISO/IEC Laboratory Accreditation of its 4 Testing. Furthermore, STD also successfully renewed its laboratory accreditation for mechanical and physical testing of rubber pipes and uPVC pipes under the Bureau of Philippine Standards – Department of Trade and Industry (BPS-DTI) on November 22, 2021.

It has also successfully renewed its accreditation as a drinking water testing laboratory, which was granted on September 22, 2021 by the Department of Health - Health Facilities and Services Regulatory Bureau (DOH-HFSRB).

Philippine Quality Award (PQA)

ITDI's Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Points System (GFPS) through the Technical Working Group conducted a total of six (6) GAD learning and development webinars on GAD core concepts (3 groups), mental health and well-being, sensitivity gender-based, and post-retirement health and well-being.

Gender and Development (GAD)

During the celebration of Women's Month on March 2021, the Institute launched the #MyWonderJuana and. They reviewed the current status of the Institute's GAD mainstreaming for the policies, people, empowerment mechanisms and programmes, projects and activities (PPAs) and were able to identify key objectives, key result areas, key performance indicators and strategies per pillar of the GAD Mainstreaming Evaluation Framework ( GMEF). From the efforts of the TWG members and the ITDI GAD FPS secretariat, the Institute was able to come up with its GPB for 2022.

DOST-ITDI also participated in the celebration of the 18-Day Campaign Against Violence Against Women (VAW).

Anti-Red Tape Unit (ARTU)

For a completely contactless transaction, DOST-ITDI launched an electronic payment system (e-Payment) in September 2020 and began to gain the trust of its customers in 2021. For internal organizational operations, ITDI has developed several information systems to capture, process and maintain data. Technical Services Information Systems facilitate customer requirements for technology transfer, facility utilization, extractions, shelf life and other technical services provided by our Research and Development Department.

The payment order (OP) in the accounting department facilitates the creation of OP from confirmed transactions of technical services information systems.

DOST-ITDI Information System Initiatives

The DOST-ITDI Online Customer Portal (www.itdi.com.ph) is a single touch point website that enables customers to post their queries and inquiries about ITDI's various services such as technical services, webinars, trainings and seminars. The ITDI e-payment system was also adopted and implemented by other DOST agencies, MIRDC and PNRI. The ExeCom members and the Secretariat during the 2021 Planning Workshop held at One Tagaytay Place Hotel Suites on 2

During this two-day event, the objectives and achievements of the 2021 Operational Plan and Budget (OPB), issues and concerns of the divisions, as well as the objectives of the 2022 OPB were discussed.

Annual Planning Workshop

Following their deliberations, the ExeCom drafted the 2022 plan anchored on DOST agency goals, including: increasing the funding sources for R&D initiatives; promotion and acceleration of technology transfer; involving start-ups, SMEs and industries in STI initiatives;.
