COURSE SYLLABUS Course Code : 6BASICPHOTO

Prerequisite : 6PWDESIGN

Course Credit : 3 Units (3 hours LEC) Year Level: 3RD/4TH year Degree Program : BS in Information Technology with Area of Specialization in Web Development Course Description:

This course in Basic Photography is designed to develop students skills in pixel-based photographic design, post production and printing. This includes training in camera operation, digital print processing, basic lighting, creative lighting setups and composition on different genre of photography. Also topics and practical applications on Commercial photography will be incorporated.

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

C1 Gain skills in basic photographic techniques, including: proper camera operation, the use of composition techniques and proper set up of lighting equipments as applied to subject matter the processing of their own

photographic imagery in a laboratory situation

BSIT01:Apply knowledge of computing, science and mathematics appropriate to the discipline.

BSIT02:Understand best practices and standards and their applications

C2 Gain an understanding and appreciation of the digital photographic process, including basic theory behind the use of light sensitive materials and different lenses depending on the photography project and lighting environment.

BSIT03:Analyze complex problems, and identify and define the computing requirements appropriate to its solution.

C3 Produce photos of different field of photography and their corresponding techniques that are being used in the multimedia industry

BSIT05: Design, implement, and evaluate computer-based systems, processes, components, or programs to meet desired needs and requirements under various constraints.

C4 Produce photographic print concepts and qualities based on industry standards by using post processing techniques

BSIT12:Understand professional, ethical, moral, legal, security and social issues and responsibilities in the utilization of information technology.

BSIT13:Recognize the need for and engage in planning, self-learning and improving performance as a foundation for continuing professional development.

As proof of achievement of the above-mentioned outcomes, students are required to submit/demonstrate the following:

LE2: Photos using M, A, S, P Camera Settings (Metadata) C1, C2, C3

LE3: Photos using Lighting Set Up C1, C3, C4

LE4: Digital and Printed Photos for Photo Story and Portfolio C3, C4 Measurement System:
