GOD’S WORDS FOR TODAY (Mt. 9:14-15) The Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew,
The disciples of John approached Jesus and said, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast much?” Jesus answered them, “Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.”
Reflection:
The difference with the fasting of the Pharisees and the disciples is the Presence of God. The Pharisees fast for the sake of fasting; they even put a gloomy face for them to be recognized and admired. But for the disciples, what is important is the presence of God. During this season of lent, is God present in you? Or hypocrisy and insincerity inhabit your heart? Invite God in your heart by making sacrifices not for broadcasting good deeds but for welcoming God in you.
Prayer:
Let us pray…
Loving God, wash away our hypocrisy. Help us wear a happy face because You are in us. Amen.
St. John Baptist de La Salle…….Pray for us!
Live Jesus in our hearts………… Forever!
