The Contributors

Veronica Jereza is a J.D. Candidate at the University of the Philippines College of Law. She recently graduated with a degree in Philosophy and a minor in Literature from the Ateneo de Manila University, where she wrote an undergraduate thesis on witnessing and Ricoeur’s work on memory and justice. Her research interests include religious freedom and human rights in the ASEAN and the ethics of memory. <[email protected]>

Hansley A. Juliano currently serves as lecturer in the Department of Political Science, Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines.

He also occasionally works as a volunteer writer/researcher for rural sectoral organizations and labor movements. He has written on social movements in the Philippines, the rights and struggles of marginalized groups, changing forms of political communication and advocacy, as well as Asian politics and culture. <[email protected]>

Enrico Antonio B. La Viña is a political analyst at Populi Analytics, an organization that aims to bridge the gap between Big Data and politics. He also currently serves as a campaign officer of Taskforce Anti-APECO, a national coalition of peoples’

organizations, civil society groups, and university students protesting land rights violations by the in Casiguran Aurora. He has written on voter education, ASEAN studies, and rural social movements.

Elaine M. Lazaro is an M.A. Philosophy student from the University of Santo Tomas. She is currently writing a thesis on Paul Ricoeur. She received her B.A. in Philosophy from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines with a thesis on Emmanuel Levinas.

Her research interests include the hermeneutics of place and philosophy of the city. <[email protected]>

Matthew David D. Ordoñez is a lecturer of the Department of Political Science at De La Salle University. His primary research interests include urbanization, ASEAN studies, politics of popular culture, and scalar politics. <[email protected]>

Benjamin T. Tolosa Jr. is an Associate Professor, Department of Political Science, Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines. He also teaches in the Development Studies Program and Department of Economics. He received his A.B. in Economics (Honors Program) from the Ateneo de Manila University, his M.A. in Development Studies from the University of East Anglia in the U.K., and his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Minnesota as a Fulbright-MacArthur scholar. His academic interests are in the fields of the politics of development and democratization, comparative social thought, and global governance. He is a member of the Commission on the Social Apostolate of the Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus and is involved in political education work for citizen empowerment and engagement.
