COURSE REQUIREMENTS: Wearing of PE uniform, individual / group performance,
participation to prepared moderate to vigorous physical activities, PA log, Food Log, Personal Food Log, Advocacy Service – Learning for Physical Activity
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is a dance program which aims to provide physical activities for the purpose of optimizing health and wellness. It involves the fundamental techniques that include various ballroom dance forms, fundamental dance positions and dance steps. Through skills training, exercise drills and independent or self-directed PAs, fitness levels will be enhanced. In conjunction with this, fitness levels, PA participation and dietary/eating patterns are evaluated to monitor one’s progress and achievement of personal fitness and dietary goals.
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the end of the course, students are expected to:
1. determine personal fitness from baseline (pre-test) levels;
2. demonstrate movement competence and confidence;
3. monitor progress and evaluate achievement of personal fitness and dietary goals;
4. demonstrate basic ballroom dance techniques and forms;
5. display the value of fair play, empathy, respect for others’ abilities and diversity by understanding how these can influence their interaction with others;
6. devise and apply a range of strategies to improve one’s physical activity performance and those of others
7. observe safety precautions before, during and after activity / game;
8. enhance and advocate for one’s personal and other’s fitness, safety and wellness through physical activity participation and/or leadership;
