GUIDELINES

I. OBJECTIVES

1. Provide a forum for the discussion of R&D project results and findings.

2. Evaluate R&D Projects in accordance with their respective objectives and approved program of activities.

3. Review initial activities of new projects with emphasis on the research methods/procedures against the attainment of project objectives.

4. Identify problems met during project implementation and pursue specific courses of action in accordance with the recommendations of the evaluation panel.

5. Identify potential technologies for assessment especially those requiring field- testing, verification and piloting and possible classification of technology status.

6. Identify significant results/information for policy formulation and development planning of the Institute and/or other concerned agency.

7. Identify new researchable areas.

II. RULES

1. The competition is open to all Colleges and Schools covering completed, on- going and new (initiated within the year) R&D projects.

2. Nature of R&D covers all areas of specialization in the natural and social sciences.

3. Categories are:

1. Research (on-going and completed)

a. Agriculture, Forestry, Natural Resources (AFNR)

b. Non-agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources (Non-AFNR) 2. Development

a. Agriculture, Forestry, Natural Resources (AFNR)

b. Non-agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources (Non-AFNR) 3. Thesis and Dissertation (Graduate and Undergraduate)

4. Technical Posters

4. Only R&D projects conducted in the last three years which have not been entered in previous AIHRs and/or NOMCARRD R&D Symposia will qualify for presentation.

The following schedule applies:

Submission of paper abstract October 7, 2013 Submission of 6 hard copies & 1 soft copy October 28, 2013 III. WRITTEN PAPER SPECIFICATIONS

1. Papers should follow the NOMCARRD paper presentation format (Available at Department of Research office).

2. Text font to be used should be Arial, not smaller than size 10 characters per inch including those in graphs, tables, charts and labels.

3. Paper should include complete names of all authors and name of paper presenter should be highlighted.

4. Paper used should be short bond (8 ½” x 11”).

5. Paper should include abstract of not more than 250 words and total pages should not exceed 20.

6. Paper/s should be submitted in six (6) hard copies and one (1) CD.

7. Submitted entries shall be screened based on compliance to the specifications stated above.

8. Poster size is 40” x 30”.

IV. PAPER PRESENTATION

A. ORAL

1. Oral presentation shall be for 15 minutes. A timer shall be utilized to prompt presenters 5 minutes before time will expire.

2. There will be an open forum to allow time for clarifications and questions thrown by the panel of evaluators and the audience if time permits.

B. POSTER

1. Poster presenters should mount their posters at the designated area at the mini-theater lobby. At least one author should be physically present during the Poster Session.

V. EVALUATION CRITERIA

1. A panel of evaluators from external agencies shall judge entries based on the following criteria:
