FILIPINO FACES OF BIOTECHNOLOGY AWARD

The Filipino Faces of Biotechnology Award is given to outstanding Filipino individuals (e.g., scientists, civil servants, farmers, communicators, student leaders) who have contributed and/or played a significant role in the advancement of biotechnology in the country.

The Filipino Faces of Biotechnology Award may be given during the celebration of the National Biotechnology Week that is held annually every last week of November. The award may not be given if no nominee qualifies.

The number of awardees may vary depending on the number of qualified nominees as long as the maximum number of awardees will not exceed ten (10) per year.

The award encompasses the following fields:

Agriculture Health Environment

Information & Education Policy

A nominee must be:

A Filipino citizen;

Scientists and researchers, farmers and fisher folks, civil servants, communicators, journalists, advocates, legislators, and/or students, and;

Of good moral character

Judging

Ninety Percent (90%):

Exceptional contributions to the advancement of biotechnology in the country through his/her efforts in R&D, policy, advocacy and, communication.

Ten Percent (10%):

Awards and/or citations received related to biotechnology Honors and Privileges

The title of Filipino Face of Biotechnology Filipino Face of Biotechnology Trophy/Plaque Selection Committee

The Selection Committee for the Filipino Faces of Biotechnology Award is composed of distinguished scientists, advocates, communicators and farmers chosen by the DA Biotechnology Program.

Nomination for the awards may be made by heads of government or private Institutions, academic institutions and organizations, farmer-groups, or student-groups.

The deadline for submission of nominations is on July 31 of each year for the awarding year.
