fhis study is divided into two parts. The first part is an eff,ort to gain insight into the prychological dimensions

in predisposition to femal-e sex promiscuity particularly that of being a prostituter and the second part aims to find some

prospects for social intervention.

Purpose

The purpose of the study are: (f) to discover the

self-perception patterns of individual-s who have been identified

as sexually promiscuous for monetary consideration; '(Z) to con- pare the personality patterns of the prostitutes and non-prostitutes

3) to deternine the attitude of the Citizen Leaders in the

community towards these subjects, and (4) to propose a theoretical

model for a. multiple-approach progran of social intervention whish

could be experimented upon to effect positive socialization and

thus avoid susceptibility to prostitution as well as tackle the

rehabil,itation of those who are already in this profession.

Problem

Two rnai-n problems vrere considered in this study:

Part I asks: What personality dimensions, as measured by MAT,

SV, AAI and SCT differentiate prostitutes and non-prostitutes?

Part II asks: What does the comnunity leadership of .A,ngeJ,es City do or plan to do about this problem?

1.O Are there significant differences in the assessment

of the prostitutes and nep-prostitutes on each of the following scales of the instrument used in this study:
